Sigh No More

What It Do DC?

Back to regular programming after a little commercial message last time.  I meant what I said though.  So HUPLO continues to slug along.  I've put in like 17k hands this month so far, and ~7k of them have been at the PLO100 game.  I've moved up, as I needed to get away from the raketrap that was PLO50.  My results for the month thus far have been weak, as I'm just above breakeven without rakeback and bonusii, but I'm firmly ahead in my AIEV and I'm sitting on a 6bb/100 wr at the 100 game so far.  Not bad.

There are many strategy things that I have improved at, like not stacking off with bottom two pair on a flop in a single raised pot, but one aspect that I am aware of, but haven't been able to do much about yet is using meta considerations to make better quits to get out of games that arn't profitable anymore.  In the games that I am playing, there are plenty of opponents who 3bet an absurd amount, there are also villains who defend 80%+, therefore there isn't much reason to play somone who plays like I do unless they are tilting.  Theoretically playing them until a stack goes in, and if I win, keep playing to see if they play worse trying to get it back, and quitting if i lose would be a really good thing, but obviously if I lose I just become what I want them to become and 3bet more aggressively, try to c/r more liberally, etc.  Another example is when a villain is bad and they lose a big pot (maybe 400bbtotal) and then they 3bet stack off the next hand almost irregardless of their hand.  I need to keep playing them until they win a stack, because they tend to calm down pretty quickly once they have 200bb again, and the spot might not be profitable if they think clearly.

I'm still hopeful that I am going to stop making so many -ev stack offs and call downs, but we'll see.  Here is a hand that at the time i thought about for a few seconds before he bet, and decided that if he shoved I had to call.  Everytime we were in a big pot and the nuts on the river changed where I was the agressor, he shipped, so I felt like I needed to call at some point.  This was not the time.

I'm looking at my HEM and the 15 biggest pots I've played this month, i've won 5 of them, and only 1 of them did the money go in before the river, and i had 100% equity.  In none of these big pots what I a favourite and lose, but i did get my money in with between 10-44% equity a bunch.  yikes.  Something to look at.

Anyway, in the life front one of my best friends is coming to visit today, and I'm really excited to see her.  I've been playing a lot of squash, and my body is a bit of a mess because of it.  My shoulder is hurt, my back is sore, etc.  I need to drop the europe weight, and also stop getting older.

Take care,

LQ
