60 Feet Tall
What It Do DC?
No Poker Update to speak of this week. I haven’t played, but will start playing tomorrow. I’m excited to get back in the game.
I’m going to really focus on playing HUHU when the games are good (ie not a lot of people waiting) and then play HUPLO other times. I think this will give me a good chance to learn a new game while still putting in a lot of time with my strongest game.
I’m pretty excited right now. Canada recently won Gold in Men’s Hockey and it was a bit of a riot. We’re watching the closing ceremonies right now and I’m pretty happy to be Canadian. I think we put on a great show.
I was lucky enough to get to go over to Vancouver for 3 days and watch Men’s hockey and Men’s curling. Both were a great time and the crowds were rowdy. Walking around downtown vancouver was also crazy. tens of thousands of people walking around with a party atmosphere.
In other news: I just played in the BC Closed Championships. I was the third seed and, as has been my theme for squash tournaments all season, i placed my seeding.
I played my first match against a fairly weak player and beat him in straight sets. My next match was against one of the best junior girls in the province. She is a very good player, but just isn’t strong or aggressive enough to play high level A squash. I beat her in straight sets as well.
My semi final match was against the 2nd seed. I had never played him before, but watched him play his first two matches. He was a very solid player with no real weaknesses.
Sadly I punted the first game to him losing 15-1. I got myself together and we battled through the next 3 games with me winning 2 of them. The fifth game ended up being close, but only because i came on strong at the end. I spotted him a 12-3 lead and lost 15-11.
I was slightly disappointed with this loss, but not too much since i havent been playing a lot lately. I have been a little bit sick and a little bit hurt.
The tournament was fun and I saw some people that I havent seen in a while. I’m gearing up for Nationals in 2 months. I’ve never played nationals before, so i think this will be a good starting point for training.
Anyways,
Back to wedding planning.
