The best and the rest

Finally reviving my blog since i am going to work my way back to 25NL up from 2NL.

For those curious souls, who want to know the whole story, search for the user Leikman on 2+2 and read through my posts in the Build a BR thread.

Now onto today.

I figured i needed a way to evaluate how i feel emotionally before a session and after a session. See how i went from tiltfree to madtilted and how it reflected my results.

Need to do a few things outside and will report with the pre-session and post-session analysis once i am done.

Going back to my roots

So i’ve been keeping my blogging quiet for some time because i decided to give cash tables a little break and have been playing donkaments.

And as odd as it may be the thing that got me to tourneys was a 1$ tourney i played in august. I just didnt feel like playing cash and wanted to play 1 tourney and surf the web meanwhile(not a good idea in general) and as odd as it may be my first tourney after about 3 months i finished 2nd for 380$ so that boosted my bankroll quite a bit to about 420 i withdrew 200 since i needed a few things for college.

So here i am today, 58 scheduled tourneys my tourney winnings are 865$ with a profit of $472. So im running better than i had expected.

For now i am gonna keep trying my luck at the tourneys and i dont have too high expectations since tourneys are of very high variance and i wouldnt be too suprised if i suffered a 100 buyin streak without cashing.

Goal for October will probably be to play 100 tourneys and get my first tourney victory if all goes well.

For now i am gonna take a deep analysis of my hand histories to see where i needed to loosen since i definitely nit up too much at the final table bubble.

Peace
A new week a new breeze

I know I am not good at blogging but i can not get better by not doing it, so here I come again.

Since I just put behind my first losing+tilting spree at 10NL. Going from +80$ to +10$ which is really of minute difference since it happened over the course of 5000 hands which is a day’s norm for a few of you I bet. I found just what i needed, The Eightfold path to poker enlightenment. Just watched the first episode and want to thank DC for this. It really gave me the motivation i needed to get through this.

Now i need to find a way to stay this motivated throughout ups and downs still to come. So i don’t plan on watching 8 episodes in 2 days but will watch the next episode when i don’t feel confident in my skills and don’t feel motivated enough to improve myself pokerwise.

After watching Real Life SNG grinder i feel like i do need to have realistic goals for myself even playing cash games.

My goal will be to play total of 24 hours of 5NL 3tables and after that see what situations i have gone through and where i could improve. Of course I will be taking notes of the hands that I find interesting and unsure.

Also i personally haven’t done the listing of things that people seem to praise so I thought I would give that a try.

First of all i would like to list a few things for myself:

The reality about becoming a better player is that:

The changes will not be imminent, meaning that it will take time and hard work but I will find ways to make the process of learning interesting. Just like DC is doing a great job with the videos making the process of learning by watching really enjoyable.

I will not always be playing my A game just like Tommy Angelo said, but I will find the energy and will to improve my A,B and C game.

Accepting the variance is a big part of becoming a professional to me. How often do I see the chatbox full of flaming and insulting. After watching even the first episode of Eightfold I feel like I am just gonna smile at hands that did not have the result i would have liked and move on. Vandweller said it really well in my opinion, excuse me if its not exactly what he said, If you win with AA vs KK it is variance if you lose it is as much variance. Variance is not bad it just is. A natural element of the game. Learn to love it not hate it.

Now about my current progress I am back at 5NL this week and as i said i plan on playing 24 hours and then take a break to examine how i have performed.
Today i played a 45 min session of 200 hands before a friend of mine came over, ending my session. Now i am back at the table and plan on playing another 2+ hours and hopefully run into some interesting situations.

So after about 6k hands and 24 hours i will want to be going through my hands and see where I get into trouble and where I might have to improve(obviously i want to improve in everything but all in due time).

Until then

Peace

A brief intro

For start id like to talk about my journey to poker and through poker

It all began in late 2008 playing a few games on LAN with my Roommate and from there it escalated into me depositing 10 on stars, then playing the 1st depositor freerolls and got to about 20 dollars and from there i played the 0.1$ 45man sngs and a few 1$ tourneys and ended up busting my 20. then depositing another 20 and again losing sngs and MTTs up to a point where i had 4$ left. at that point a joined DC and grinded my 4$ to 50 in 0.01/0.02 on stars moving up to 0.02/0.05 and eventually had about 180$ playing at 0.05/0.1 and at some point things just dint go well i started getting sucked out, i tilted and before i knew my bb/100 was 1 over 7k hands at 10NL.

Some people would say at that losingspree: “hell poker was fun, i gave it my all, it wasnt for me, i take my 100 bucks out and move on”. Even i thought of that but obviously changed my mind.

So here i am, making this blog to set some goals for me and motivate myself to start again at 0.01/0.02 to regain my confidence and play 3hours a day 4 tables and not give a f#ck about my results. I am going to play solid poker and not look at my graph/profit until the end of the week.

Plans for sunday will be to regain my confidence at 0.02 and then just 4 table 0.05 until i have enough to move up.

Also atleast 2 uNL videos from DC every day to get fresh ideas

Peace

Mardo
