A new week a new breeze

I know I am not good at blogging but i can not get better by not doing it, so here I come again.

Since I just put behind my first losing+tilting spree at 10NL. Going from +80$ to +10$ which is really of minute difference since it happened over the course of 5000 hands which is a day’s norm for a few of you I bet. I found just what i needed, The Eightfold path to poker enlightenment. Just watched the first episode and want to thank DC for this. It really gave me the motivation i needed to get through this.

Now i need to find a way to stay this motivated throughout ups and downs still to come. So i don’t plan on watching 8 episodes in 2 days but will watch the next episode when i don’t feel confident in my skills and don’t feel motivated enough to improve myself pokerwise.

After watching Real Life SNG grinder i feel like i do need to have realistic goals for myself even playing cash games.

My goal will be to play total of 24 hours of 5NL 3tables and after that see what situations i have gone through and where i could improve. Of course I will be taking notes of the hands that I find interesting and unsure.

Also i personally haven’t done the listing of things that people seem to praise so I thought I would give that a try.

First of all i would like to list a few things for myself:

The reality about becoming a better player is that:

  • The changes will not be imminent, meaning that it will take time and hard work but I will find ways to make the process of learning interesting. Just like DC is doing a great job with the videos making the process of learning by watching really enjoyable.
  • I will not always be playing my A game just like Tommy Angelo said, but I will find the energy and will to improve my A,B and C game.
  • Accepting the variance is a big part of becoming a professional to me. How often do I see the chatbox full of flaming and insulting. After watching even the first episode of Eightfold I feel like I am just gonna smile at hands that did not have the result i would have liked and move on. Vandweller said it really well in my opinion, excuse me if its not exactly what he said, If you win with AA vs KK it is variance if you lose it is as much variance. Variance is not bad it just is. A natural element of the game. Learn to love it not hate it.

Now about my current progress I am back at 5NL this week and as i said i plan on playing 24 hours and then take a break to examine how i have performed.
Today i played a 45 min session of 200 hands before a friend of mine came over, ending my session. Now i am back at the table and plan on playing another 2+ hours and hopefully run into some interesting situations.

So after about 6k hands and 24 hours i will want to be going through my hands and see where I get into trouble and where I might have to improve(obviously i want to improve in everything but all in due time).

Until then

Peace

Hey Mardo, keep up the good work.

I had a similar spew recently at 10NL, ended up down abhout 70-80 dollars, it was painful.

I've watched the Eightfold Path to Poker Enlightenment, I really recommend you continue as they're very insightful.

All the best for the next few weeks of your play.
