August was fun

Had a lot of fun playing poker this month, it was my biggest month dollars and volume wise. Even better I made 2-3 really good quits that probably saved or “earned” me some $. Ventured back into the 100 NL games and they have been good for the most part. It’s hard to find 9 really good tables on a weeknight but weekends are great.

100 NL is much more aggressive than 50 NL and the players are just generally much better. Never the less I’m pretty sure I’ve got a good edge as long as I continue to play and put in work like I have.

I went deep in 2 donkaments but came up with disappointment, standard I guess. They are a good way to break up the grind though and I know they are high variance so I can’t complain.

I was 112/27041 in the Stars $11 1/4 million lottery (no I didn’t mistype 27,000 players) for $151.
76/2592 in a $10 Midnight Madness on Full Tilt, 5 outer for a shit ton of chips, gg.
I played the $120 FTOPS knockout event and donked my chips off on a “re-steal” from the blinds and ran into AK.

For next month I wanna play some of those mini-FTOPS and I have a ticket to a $200 WCOOP event that I won in those extreme satellites w/ the ridiculous overlay. So, I’ll definitely play that and maybe the $109 event.

I’m working on becoming much less results oriented this variance simulator has helped but I have to post and think about my results at some point, so…

Next month’s goals:

[ ] Learn and play more heads-up. Everything I hear about heads-up indicates it’s the most skillful and best way to learn to become a complete poker player. It’s going to be a more essential skill as I move up and I need to learn how to play outside of full ring nitdom. At higher stakes there is much more play in late position, learning HU can only help. With it I can keep playing confidently when the tables break and/or I need to start tables
[ ] Watch Pr1nnyraiding and the Dog is Head series
[ ] Read the HU Moshman Book
[ ] 60,000 hands or 2k hands per day
[ ] Drink only once a week. I really wanna push myself hard poker wise for the remainder of the year. I can still obtain all the goals I set out for myself back in Jan. With football season starting there is gonna be a huge temptation to skip the really good weekend poker games and just relax. I’m gonna need to limit that for sure.

Music wise, Hip-hop has been really disappointing all year and it’s kind of depressing. Here is a comparison:

’06 Music Folder – 8 GB
’07 – 6.5 GB
’08 – 4.8 GB
’09 – 2 GB – and most of it is weak.

I was anticipating the Slaughterhouse album a lot but I was let down with what I heard. Royce Da 5’9" seems to come so weak on any album cut, but soul crush on mixtapes. Joe Budden I just shake my head, dude needs a therapist. Joell Ortiz is meh. Crooked I was a pleasant surprise and apparently I’ve been sleeping hard on him. I have been listening to the “The One” a lot lately and with the $1 big blind I’ve been dealing with lately in mind, here it is.

I’m reckless with Led, Zeppelin instead
Let’s get a keg, let’s split a mescaline that mess with ya head……

…..Somethin in my denim need a kiss, call it Gene Simmons
They wanna ban me like Marilyn Manson
for all the whores in my Baltimore, Maryland mansion

Multiple syllable rhymes make me so happy :)
