Reality Show [Brief Synopsis]
This one is born from my experiences being on 2M2MM, living in Las Vegas and other bizarre circumstances I've found myself in along my journey to CONQUER THE WORLD!!! Also somewhat inspired by the documentary "We Live in Public." It's a black comedy.
An ambitious line cook in Las Vegas thinks he has been given a shot at big time stardom when he is chosen to be a contestant on what he thinks is a new reality tv cooking competition show. He shows up to the show, which appears instead to be a televised high stakes poker game. He quickly wins $100,000, and is given the choice to keep it or go on to the next round. He lets it ride.
The line cook will be part of an experiment designed to push the limits of the body and mind. He joins a community of people living in a modern apartment building styled after the 1920s. The residents are both actual contestants on the show and actors playing characters. In order to make it to the next round, the cook must infiltrate a secret brotherhood operating within the building and obtain its dark secret.
As the cook is swept up in the bizarre dramas of the apartment building, he starts to lose sight of what’s real and what isn’t real. People he thought were allies betray him, the show plays games with his mind, and he is pushed to the brink of insanity. With one day left and stonewalled by the brotherhood, the cook makes a daring move to access the locked Penthouse floor of the building.
The cook emerges onto the set of “Mega Chef!”, the bizarre Japanese cooking show. He is finally given a direct shot at his dream of being a Mega Chef, loved and admired by all for his character and skills. But to win, he must compete against 2 other contestants that made it through their own challenges... in a cooking battle to the death, globally televised high above Las Vegas.

I think this would probably work better if it started out with a cooking comp and then got strange rather than being strange from the get go. So it would be cooking comp -> apartment building -> poker. Kind of like how people go from being succesful on one show to doing the circuit of reality based TV to try and chase thier 5 minutes of fame but also to slowly draw the audience into a world that gets stranger and stranger.

Yeah that could be better, they could each be different shows. Could open on him competing on one, even, and make him a seasoned reality star who has never gotten his big shot at one of the huge cooking shows. He gets a call saying he's been chosen, and when he shows up it's the apartment building story.

"Sorry you just missed the cut this time but cour casting director would love to try you on this new show we have. You don't mind signing an NDA do you?"
