new home.
Yes, I’m slowly moving over from dangerlion.com. DeucesCracked is working on its blogging platform and if it’s ever going to be any good I figure I gotta get in here with my people! On that note, if you have any requests or ideas for the blogging platform, post in comments and if they’re not TOTALLY CRAZY! or already being implemented I’ll relay to our development team.
So. First post. I feel like I should talk about what I’m doing with my life considering I don’t ever really talk about that and I’ve got a lot going on.
Firstly, I’m very involved at DC with overall business strategy and development, as well as everything and anything creative. I suppose that’s why I love the culture we created here so much – I’m able to blend all my skillsets. Rob and I specifically are going to start blogging more about some of this stuff, as I think it’s really interesting to everyone who just assumes that we bought some magic beans off a warlock in Seattle and out of it grew all this cool stuff. We’re all really looking forward to the end of 2009 and ringing in 2010… there are a lot of exciting things happening for us and if you pay close attention you might figure some things out before everyone else…
Secondly, I’ve been heavily involved with producing and marketing 2M2MM. It’s been quite the ride and a interesting experience to see what it’s like inside a television network. Traditional TV is dying and seeing the push-pull between our (relatively) young production company and an older network trying to look forward was really eye-opening. Honestly, I think G4 really botched with trying to traditionally market the show before it aired. They hired the wrong type of marketing agency, they spent the money in the wrong places, and they tried as hard as they could to make the show a mishmosh of things that it wasn’t. Not only that, they missed a huge opportunity in trying to squash piracy (not that I didn’t try to help there at first, I admit it!) and letting themselves get handcuffed by complicated affiliate agreements that prohibited streaming to other countries. If these television networks are going to survive at all, it’s not by releasing shows about online poker players that have huge followings on the INTERNET and then restricting the Internet from watching. It just doesn’t make sense.
Thirdly! We’re currently editing From Busto to Robusto 2 (it’s looking goooood) and working on a DVD that will feature both the Zeebo film and the new film, and a bunch of bonus content. We were hoping to get it shipping by the holidays but we want to make sure we don’t rush the movie, and it’s looking more in more like we’ll be releasing it sometime in late December or early January online.
The rest is top secret. Chuck and I went to a Seth Godin talk yesterday. Emil and I are finally moving out - he’s getting a 1br in the same building and I’m moving a few blocks away to my own place. Life is pretty good. I’m writing more, creating more and looking forward. 2010 looks to be a big one. It’s a magical world, Hobbes.
Let’s go exploring.

I love it. I grew up in a theater family. I was working box office one day and the tech guys were running through some lighting cues when a couple of patrons walked in to exchange their tickets. One said to me, "I never realized they practiced".

awesome stuff. I wasn't sure if that video was even real at first because it seems quite surreal. excited to see the new one.

Suggestions for Blogging Platform:
- Preview option so you can preview your post before publishing.
- Saving drafts? Right now if I type something up and its not finished I have to save it to a .txt file on my machine if I want to leave and work on it later.
- Allow players to add some text into the "About Me" side bar. This could include their stakes, 2p2 usernames, short bio.
- Social integration. Maybe allow users to enter their twitter username and have a feed in the side bar
- Sidebar links. Perhaps allow players to link to other blogs, resources that they use, online tools, etc...
