Maths of PLO (on hold)
I will not be finishing my Maths of PLO video series in the next couple of months. I am trying to finish writing my Ph.D. thesis. Producing poker videos (on top of managing a coaching group and playing a little bit myself) is non-compatible with this goal. I have, however, just published a paper on my research . :)
I do still daydream about finishing the video series, and am always thinking of how I can improve the presentation of what is really rather dry content. A post came up today that I think really resonates with how I feel about coaching videos; I won’t quote it wholesale, but I’ll include the key points:
The primary medium of instruction at DeucesCracked is video, and I’d like to see the medium used to its fullest. I like videos where instructors pause and rewind the action. I like seeing Stove and SNGWiz windows pulled into view for equity discussions. I like seeing note boxes [being used] and reading what is typed… These are elements that videos offer that we won’t find in books, threads, or podcasts. Use them!
So true.
