Academic Earth is Awesome
At the beginning of March- I made a post that linked to Ben Polak’s excellent economics course on game theory, part of the Open Yale Courses project. This course really is the nuts for the neophyte strategist.
Now I want to bring your attention to Academic Earth , a website that seems to be organising (freely available) lecture courses from a wide range of universities on topics across the board. I’ve been watching the Harvard courses on Computer Science topics instead of writing my Ph.D. thesis, which is what I ought to be doing.
I have been busy with both my writing and acquiring new skills. I need to write to finish my studies, and I need to equip myself with new skills as part of my quest to find a suitable career. This is why the Maths of PLO series is taking so long to come along, sorry about that. I have done some really awesome work on analysing Hold’Em flop, turn and river textures; it turns out a lot of what I’ve discovered applies to Texas Hold’Em as well. I’ve been trying to find the best way to communicate all my ideas for a while now, and I don’t like rushing a video out as soon as the slides are written. I find that waiting a week I usually think of something extra to say, or a clearer way of explaining a certain topic (sometimes it just takes that long to really understand what I’m trying to say). Hopefully I’ll get the next episode out soon.
