Idea Entry #3 Investing for Dummies

Hey Guys,

For this weeks idea I propose an education/training website for understanding the markets and starting to invest. If you can remember back to high school when the stock market came up in any given class people perked up. It’s interesting! The only problem is that the knowledge and language barrier to enter the world of business is really, really high. This is something that I’m going through right now and it is really frustrating to read through various Seeking Alpha and Market Watch articles without understanding what’s being said. There needs to be an entry level of education available online that doesn’t cost as much as university or college. What are some key ways the site would work:

Learning the language: These videos need to break down what things mean and make it simple enough for a grade 10 student or a retired housewife. The point is to educate the uneducated not people who have already broken into the industry. The words that people hear every day on CNBC are all cataloged so that everybody gets to the same page of business vocabulary.

The Daily Stories: Again understanding what people are talking about on the major business TV stations is difficult. Even with a better understanding of business words, I imagine it is a little too fast passed for most. In this daily series instructors break down the news in an easier to understand way so that the mainstream can understand what’s going on. Instead of the news being released during the trading time, it can be discussed and released at 8pm eastern to make it accessible to all age groups in different careers.

Bankroll Management: This is tough because based on what I am learning at the moment you need a lot of cash to start making just a little. 10% ROI yearly is a pretty standard number. You can imagine the amount of cash your going to have to put in to make a decent living. This segment talks about people in different situations and how they can best use their money to grow capital for the future.

Play money community: There are lots of these opportunities out there but from what I have seen no one does it right. Exclusive to paying members there are monthly competitions from a relatively small community that can be broken up into demographics to make it even more competitive. I have thought about trading tournaments. Ohhh The possibilities on this one! Unlimited time frames and wager amounts. It has serious potential to grow into something much bigger then a basic training website.

Well anyways this is again just a very basic idea that I haven’t developed enough in my head.  I have nowhere near the knowledge I would need to run something like this. It is interesting to think about at least for the time being.

Shysters Update

Episode #4 was released this week and I think its pretty good. We have our sister on for half the show because we talk about KONY and make some plans for the 20th. Numbers have dropped slightly but I think that’s to be expected after the initial launch. Still having fun doing it!

Thanks for Reading guys

Cheers,

This is "motley fool" isn't it? Or have I missed something?

By the way, if you are serious about learning investing I would recommend everyone read Benjamin Graham's "The Intelligent Investor". That's the one and only investment tip I ever give people.

Just googled motley fool. Never heard of the site so thats cool thanks huntse. I still think there is room for expansions in the "training market" though.
