Mental Notes
I’ve been learning that at 20NL it isn’t profitable to stack preflop with QQ or AK. I will try to restrain myself when I get 3bet when I have these hands. I shouldn’t be trying to make plays at this limit. Dave is my coach and he’s been teaching me very useful things lately. Rule #1 calling is for the nuts. Rule #2 Big hand big pot, small hand small pot. I’m trying to find a hand chart that is suitable for my 6max game. Some problems that I’m having preflop are: should I ever call besides pocket pairs, and where does the line draw? is it anything below 77 I just flat call and anything above 77 I 3bet? I’ve been learning about 3betting a good amount and how to use it in my arsenal. Another problem that problem that I seem to be having is being oop with a good hand that did not connect well with the flop. My question is, should I still cbet? or should I only cbet on the dry flops. Please tell me, what do I do when I have A10o and the button limps in and so does the sb. Do I raise it up to like 7x or do I just check behind? I’m stuck in that situation aswell. Most times with a decent hand when a villian raises from the bb and I’m in the sb, I would just call the raise and just outplay them on the flop or turn. This seems to be very profitable. I have a HUGE leak with Short Stacks. I seem to always be paying them off and I hate it. I have to learn and read some articles about these guys. They seem to be tricky these days. I have learned about squeezes and I love them. I’ve been doing them every once in a while to spice up my game and increase profit.
Instead of monthly goals, it’s going to be weekly. I’m going to post here atleast once a week to update my status, my graph, and my mental being about poker. Every Sunday I’ll post my graph for the week and my insight about the entire week. I still haven’t made any goals for each week, but that will soon to come. Every week I’m required by my coach to play 7k hands. That’s 1k hands a day or 2 hours if I play 4 tables at a time.
I am really trying to make poker work for me as a side job. My goal is to have a big enough bankroll to play 2NL and play at casinos. I’m at 4 or 5 on a scale out of 10. I still need to increase my skill with this game to become a professional poker player. I will keep reading books every days about poker to keep updating my knowledge. I need to stop wasting my bankroll away on tilt. I will not play any SNG’s unless they are freerolls. I will not do any Headsup when I’m tilted. If I catch myself playing horrible and making calls of full stacks with tp I will end my session. I need to find more of my leaks and keep talking to my coach Dave about my game.
So who am I? My name is Bartosz Rosol and I am a 20 year old full time college student with the hopes and dreams of going pro with poker. I am fully en wrapped about No Limit Texas Hold Em. I first started playing this game two summers ago when my friend Nikos introduced me to it. I have fallen in love with this game this previous summer. My goal for the previous summer was to learn as much as I can about poker and try to beat the online games. I have read a couple books and I’ve enjoyed each and every one of them. Right now I’m reading Zen and the Art of Poker. It’s a book about keep calming and neutral while playing poker. It’s about not letting emotions get to you so you don’t play a bad session. I feel that if I keep updating my status and some hands here on this post, it will help me in the long run. It will show me what goals I need to accomplish and how far I came along from just my $100 on Cake Poker. So for now, I’ll leave this Mental Note with a poker rule that I’ve learned. "Don’t fall into the “Now Trapâ€." Toasty out.
