"Downswing" redux
The whole time during this current period I have had a wierd mix of emotional reaction to bad luck (which is just illogical obviously - if there weren't bad luck there would be no bad poker players) and lots and lots and lots of bad play. Also in what I thought was a completely separate development, I haven't been feeling physically that great (lots of aches and pains etc) and my daughter has been ill so I have been looking after her.
Well last night she developed a very specific symptom and a bit of googling made it obvious that she has a certain virus. And looking further it became clear that I actually also have this virus (it's very contagious). This was such a huge weight off my mind, because I just couldn't understand why i had been playing really well and then suddenly started to make all these huge mistakes all the time. That coupled with a run of more-than-usually bad coolers etc really dented my confidence and made me play like even more of a gibbon.
I'm off poker until I get better, but at that point I'm going to win back these 20BI. Yeah baby. No virus is going to keep me down.
