Speech Recognition & The Next Level of Study

SPEECH RECOGNITION:

Started using the speech recognition program that comes in Vista THIS WEEK. I’m not trying to totally automate my play with high-tech commands- I just wanted an easier way to keep notes on opponents. I found myself missing things when I look down to type before. I REALLY like the speech recognition. It kinda sux if I try to use it directly in PokerStars, but it works GREAT in Microsoft products – like Wordpad. It’s pretty easy to keep a Wordpad doc in the background and just dictate, copy, paste my notes into PS.

I went through PT3 tonight. I found the 6 regs I’ve faced the most, then pulled up any hand they had to show and took notes on how they play. I see that 2 of them are basically tight/passive and I need to pretty much NEVER call a shove from them. Also found that they don’t seem to float, so if they are in check/call mode I shouldn’t try to bluff them off their hand. ALSO, they are limping AA/KK/QQ sometimes so I can’t grab the dead money like I’ve been doing a lot. Opponent reads FTW!

I’m excited about the potential of this tool because it’s helping me pay more attention to my opponents and their tendencies.

Still driven, determined, and focused on Poker.

The Next Level of Study:

I was in Barnes and Noble the other day and went str8 to the Poker section, like always. Grabbed a couple of books and found that – Hey!!, I’ve heard all this before!! I know I don’t know everything, but there isn’t a whole bunch that is going to be a completely new concept to me. That’s great and frustrating @ the same time. I’m struggling with what to do next to learn. Obviously, I just don’t remember everything I’ve read or dont apply it correctly for whatever reason. I think the next step it crazy volume of self analysis. I’ve gotta review my own play much, much more to get to the next level. On the brightside, I feel like I’m very, very close to making a HUGE LEAP forward. It’s been 1 year of pretty serious focus on the game. Any time now – boom! – it’s gonna blow up.

Analyzing your most common opponents is a super smart move! You'll crush them now and they won't know whats happening.

Also, I doubt you'll find any poker books in barnes and noble that have information better than what we have here at DC. We are proud to be on the forefront of poker knowledge and instruction!
