Turning the Tide

What’s up guys. April has been a real bitch so far.. like March, I got stuck about 2k to start the month and have had to dig myself out. I have put in 37 hours of play so far this month, which is on pace for my target of 80 hours of play for April, unfortunately all of that play has netted me about $250 and rakeback so far. I have been getting more and more on edge lately as this is about 3 weeks straight I have been running cold. Hopefully I can start winning again and that will make me want to play more.

Perusing my yearly data, I realized that if I was playing 75-100k hands every month I would probably be making a lot more money. For the year I am 8 bb/100 at NLHE cash games and 7bb/100 at PLO cash games, but I am simply not putting in the volume to really get beyond small 100 and 200$ games. I’ve taken a few shots at 400nl this year and it hasn’t gone well, I’m stuck a few thousand.

To try and up my motivation to grind the next few days, I am going to bet against myself that I have to put in 20 hrs in the next four days or my friend SubV will get $500 I am escrowing in his account. The bet will start at 1pm 4/13 and end 1pm 4/17. I realize this isn’t that many hours for you epic grinders but I have been averaging 1-3 hrs of play a day this year, so four straight 5 hour days will actually be a test for me. It is something I need to get used to if I am not moving up to midstakes anytime soon, and I think more volume would also lessen the impact of variance and downswings.
