PLO....2nut flush no good, i fold.....oh wait WTF....

So i have been trying out a bit of PLO lately and i wondered if anyone had ever folded a straight flush without realising, well i did it, felt a bit sick/completely and utterly stupid after. I quit the session soon after, i obv wasnt concentrating that well. God looking back i really butcher this hand…why did i not bet the flop.

Stud so far

Well results have been swingy as of late, its kinda hard to determine my win rate since you have to jump around the limits so much to find good games. But there is still plently of room for improvement in my game i know that for sure.

My Poker Tracker Stud results so far

I hope this image comes out ok.

But i guess being in the green for my first week or so isnt that bad. I will keep you guys posted.

New Start = New Game

In case you have missed my first post I have only started back playing for a couple of weeks after almost a year off and initially got back into the NLHE grind. After some of mixed results i think i have realised that i dont really have the same drive to exceed at holdem anymore and grinding endless hands in tough games isnt a huge amount of fun.

I have always loved playing mixed games and although my PLO and O8 are pretty poor i think my Stud has always been ok so i thought i would have a look at the videos on offer to get me excited about playing.

So in comes the series ‘A Nightmare on 7th Street’, i am a big fan of Joe Tall and the way he teaches and this series is really excellent, and has given me some motivation to really start learning Stud.

I’m kinda hoping that the games will be a little softer and with a bit of hard work on my game i should be able to improve pretty quickly.

My results have been pretty mixed to start but i have won a decent amount and played as high as 10/20 Stud 8 and felt pretty comfortable. Which is one of the really nice things about limit games you can take shots and not really get scared of the monetary amounts since 1 bet = 1 bet and you dont have to measure them out like in big bet games.

I have also started playing back on Pokerstars since they have the most games running, i quickly realised that the bet and check sounds were really annoying me and there software isnt as nice as the FullTilt stuff so i the changed the sounds over, Pokerstars now sounds exactly like Tilt, pretty cool i thought.

First Ever Blog Post

Ok so as the title suggests i have never had or posted a blog before, but since it seems like all the rage i think i will give it a try.

Im basically hoping that this blog can give me a chance to reflect on a most things that are poker related and a few real life bits aswell to keep me sane.

So a bit of background, i think i started playing poker about 3 years ago and was making decent progress with beating the limits up until 50nl when i really hit a brick wall with my game and couldnt seem to make much progress at all.

The real turning point was when i found DC and Cardrunners and i actually really began to put work into my game. It was only when i found this site that i realised i had so much to learn.

So i took a notion to start playing some Limit instead of the normal NLHE that i had been currently playing mainly because i knew that i was making some pretty big mistakes in NLHE especially with calling big bets with completely stupid hero calls.

So limit was a good solution and with watching the Real Life Limit Grinder Series turned me from a weak passive nit at NLHE to a decent thinking LAGTAG at limit and actually feeling pretty confident about my game.

I think i played Limit for maybe 6 months or so and stuck to some solid bankroll management restrictions and built up a decent roll playing up to about 2/4, then decided to have a crack at NLHE since winrates are a little higher and the rake is a realy killer in limit. After a not so great start with being a calling station (a good thing in Limit) i used the good hand reading skills i learnt from limit to really make some decent cash.

So i was back at the NLHE i think i deposited about £50 onto my first ever euro site that i ever played on since i always remember it for being pretty soft (the one i couldnt beat 50nl on) and turned that £50 playing 2/4p into 12k and playing £500nl over the space of about 4 months, it was really a good time for me, i dont know if i was running like god or not but i really felt my game was in a good place at that time.

I always stuck to strict bankroll management and everytime i took shots i seemed to run pretty well which is why i think i built the roll so quick. Then one day i lost nearly 2k playing HU which i really suck at because i just go into auto pilot and tilt off buys in. So i felt pretty sick about that decided to take a break.

The break lasted nearly a year and i am back playing just last week, its really weird i just didnt really feel like playing poker during this time of my life. So now i have to start all over again, i have forgotten a ton of stuff and i have lost a bit since i got back playing just from being an overaggro monkey i think.

So first thing i did once i felt the need to get back was start up my DC subscription again and start the learning process all over. Im hoping i will use this blog to publish how things go and how my game develops hopefully back to better than it ever was.

So im going to try to play 100nl and stick to it until i win about 20 buy ins and then move up, if things aren’t going so great at this limit then i just move down to 50nl, i have no problems with this and as long as i can keep my tilting tendencies under control then i will hopefully get back to winning ways pretty soon.

This blog post has been pretty long so i think i will call it here and just update you guys on how it goes over the next few days.

Now what videos will i watch first…so much to choose from.
