Playing With The Pros I
So today I was playing some
deep-stacked Mixed Games on Full Tilt when Jeremiah Smith (a
professional poker player and sponsored by Full Tilt) sat at my table.
Jeremiah is to my knowledge a cash-game player mainly and so you
probably don't know who he is but he made a deep run of the main event a
few years ago and hosts PokerRoad's Cash Plays
podcast. Anyway, there have actually been regular appearances from pros
during the past couple of weeks ... I think it's because of the
upcoming WSOP having more mixed games events and are given more prestige
and so they want to work out the rust in all the games since they
probably play NLH/PLO all the time.
Anyway we ended up chatting
and he is a really nice guy and represents the site very well. Typically
pros don't even chat with you even if you're playing with them in the
game, or sometimes aren't very good sports. Obviously Jeremiah was
playing a lot lower stakes than he usually does so he probably didn't
care if he lost a couple buy-ins.
So basically there were a few
hands we played where like I was left scratching my head afterward with
how poorly he played. The first was a $0.50/1.00 NLH hand where he
basically called my shove on the flop with no pair, no draw with 6 outs
and obviously hits for a $175.60 pot:

The
other is a PLO hand where he calls my turn shove drawing to 6 outs,
which in my mind was pretty terrible (really doesn't make sense to me
why he called) and I end up holding for a $138.70 pot:
