More live session hands (Comments welcome)
These are a few more hands from my last live NLHE session. As I said in the previous post, I am very happy with how my results are, but I am a bit concerned that I am playing a bit too weak-tight and when I do get aggressive, it may be telegraphing what I have and I could be opening game up to be exploited.
Hand #2
NLHE $1-$2 (9 players)
Hero $240
MP1 (seat #2)$65
UTG (seat # 8) $140
HERO is dealt black red 2s.
UTG limps, one fold, Hero limps, MP1 limps, 3 folds, SB completes, BB checks.
POT--$10 (5 players)
FLOP-2h 3s 4s
3 checks, HERO bets $8, MP1 calls, sb folds, BB folds, UTG raises to $25, Hero raises to $55, MP1 RRAI for $65, UTG folds, HERO calls $10.
MP1 flips over AJo and the board runs out
TURN—4c
RIVER—10h
HERO wins $100.
Hand #3
At this point, seat #8 has now switched to my immediate left when that chair opened. He was getting short stacked (below 100 BBs or >$100) and was getting more loose with his preflop raising range and was CCing more in position with mediocre holdings. At one point, he RRAI preflop with 10s 3s and was called by AJo. He caught a flush on the turn and doubled up to $75ish. He was now straddling each orbit when I was in the BB and would raise preflop in small unraised pots, again with a very wide range.
Hero BB w J6o
HERO $220
Villain $81
UTG straddles, all fold to BB who calls straddle, UTG raises to $13, Hero calls.
I am convinced that the villain here has such a wide range that if I am behind, it can’t be by a lot. J6o sucks as a starting hand and I am OOP, but I want to see a flop and go from there. If I hit Top pair, then I plan on CRing. If I hit a draw, then I would like to play it more passive and see if I can draw as cheaply as possible. If I miss, then I will have to let it go to a c-bet.
POT--$27 (2 players)
FLOP—Qs 10d 9h rainbow.
Hero checks, villain bets $10, Hero calls.
POT—$47 (2 players)
TURN—6s
Hero checks, villain checks.
RIVER—8s
Hero checks, Villain bets $30, Hero calls.
Now I have hit my straight, so I could either bet out and hope he has a strong second best hand or. The 2nd option would be to go for a CR as a donk bet on this river card would mean a straight or possibly a BDFD that came in which would make his decision all the easier, whether he’s ahead or behind. The 3rd option would be for me to check and call a bet in hopes that he has a strong enough hand to not check behind. I decide to go for the 3rd option as he has been betting away no matter what and isn’t afraid to bluff.
Villain tables 97o for 10 high straight
Hero shows J6o for Q high straight.
Hero wins $53
Hand #4
Hero is in CO with AdKd
1 fold, UTG+1 limps, 1 fold, MP1 limps, MP2 limps, HERO raises $12, BTN calls $12, 3 folds, MP1 calls, MP2 calls.
POT $53 (4 players)
FLOP—10 6 2 rainbow.
MP1 checks, MP2 checks, HERO checks, BTN bets all-in for $31, MP1 folds, MP2 folds, HERO calls $31…
Once I completely missed the flop, I had no intention of c-betting, especially with the button cold calling me preflop. His range is quite wide and he’s been gambling, so I planned on letting him bet and see what the other 2 players did. Once button goes all-in, I plan on folding if either MP1 or MP2 call. When they both get out of the way, I have a dry flop with 2 over cards in a biggish pot, getting a little worse than 8.5-1 odds. The villain here could have me beat, but he could be doing this with a weaker Ace high or gut shot as well, given the way he’s played this session. I think this is a rather straightforward call. Let me know if you think otherwise.
POT--$115 (2 players)
TURN—3d
RIVER—As
Villain shows J10o
HERO shows AdKd
HERO wins $115
The villain in this hand left as soon I showed the Ace.
