After a long break from poker (almost 1 year), I've started playing again. However, before I stopped I had a huge downswing so now I'm restarting at NL10. I've discovered that poker helps me to relax from my work and my interest of playing come back. But for now, small objectives (my work doesn't leave me much time for poker):
Goals for May 2011:
- Play 5K hands at NL10
- Try to achieve 5bb/100.
I did it again! I said I was going to write here more often but I was only able to do it today…
January started pretty well…in the first two week I put up almost 15k hands. I was playing more solid and focused, but the 3rd week turned out to be quite negative. But then I practically stopped playing, mainly due to my work and only restarted now (already in February!).
Nevertheless, I ended January 2 BI up, plus rakeback! And almost cleared ftp bonus.

First of all: Happy 2010 for everyone!
As I mentioned in my last post, I took some time to rethink what wanted from this game. Until now poker has been more like an hobby to me. I can relax and forget about everything else. I’ve never been too worried about my bankroll and so it has more or less like a rollercoaster (up, down, up, down…). But now I want to take it a littl bit more seriously. So I’ll try to set some rules and goals that will help me.
1. Bankroll management: move up with 20BI and move down with 15BI.
2. Try to be fully concentrated when playing poker. Stop navegating the web at the same time.
3. Study the game a bit more, posting on the foruns and discuss hands.
4. Improve my game.
I’ll start playing NL25 and move on from there. I’ll try to play around 10-15k hands/month, but it will all depend on how busy I’ll be in my work.
I hope it all goes well and I’ll try to post more here in the blog!

I am really not in the right mood to talk about it but December sucked. I managed to clear FTP bonus but that was it. I’m down 12 BI!! So in this last week I moved down to NL25 and start rethinking what I want from this game. I’ll post it in the next couple of days!
This month was not a exception and started pretty bad. At one point I was down 7 BI (3BI under EV). I was starting to get tilted, but I regain my focus and after 7k hands I’m only 1.5 BI down. Meanwhile, I cleared the bonus and now I’m playing to get the Ironman status and qualify for the year end bonus.
Biggest hands of the week:
So I think it is time to set some goals in my poker life. I think it can work as an extra motivation. So far I’ve been using poker to relax from my work.
My December goals are:
- 15k hands NL50
- clear FTP bonus
- a 5bb/100 winrate

After a reasonable October, this November was though poker month. A lot of work to do and almost no time poker. However, I still managed to put 11k hands with a bad wr of -2.7bb/100. At least I broke-even thanks to rb and a FTP bonus.
I’ll try to put some more volume on December (although I think it will be dificult) and post here more often!
My comeback to cash games was not that bad! I tried to play more focused and end up playing over 13k hands at NL50 with a winrate of 5.2bb/100 hands. It’s not brilliant and I still had to big rollercoster moments, but at least I finished positive (unlike previous months). I’ll review the biggest hands of the month and post them here!

Well Ichanged my mind! I really prefer to play cash than STT. So I’ll start playing NL50 again. I’ll try to keep the blog updated

I really don’t get along with turbo STT. After a short experiment with the $6.50’s, I lost the entire profit I had made playing the $11 STT. It seems I had some difficulties adapting to the turbo structure.
So I will just go back to the $11’s, where I feel more confortable.
