If you're a beginner please read this & respond!
I'm working on something that's going to be beneficial to players of all skill levels but especially for beginners and intermediate players.
What I'd like to know from all ya'll beginners out there (both live and online) is what topics you find the most daunting? What troubles you the most? I could obviously think about what I think the biggest leaks/issues beginners have are but I'd like to know straight from the source. If anyone else would like to chime in on what they think that's definitely cool as well. I think you guys will enjoy this when it comes to fruition. :)

My biggest leak is probably the maths aspect of poker. Not regularly applying different calcs and whatnot is a big problem in my game and regularly leads to me making dumb decisions.
Not applying solid fundamentals consistently def comes in a close second.

Bluffing or thinking that people are bluffing often (i.e."not believing" villains). Not keeping ranges in mind all the time. Auto-piloting.

man, you guys have awesome avatars :D

like Jyhani said, thinking in terms of ranges consistently. Too often I think 'well he could just have hand XY, I call etc etc'
Playing against 3 bets OOP.

3b pots vs fishes. ISO pots vs aggro fishes. Barrelling. Laying down. Tilt handling (realizing mild tilt).

To echo what soleztis said, I'm having trouble adjusting/beating the regs as I move up each level. Where do I find the edges against others who also have solid training...its pretty basic, but I don't know exactly what to look for. Bet sizes? Something in HUD?

Similar to what elpsnot, the thought process involved when making post flop decisions. Learning the "why" behind strategic decisions is sometimes missing when a coach puts up a live play or multitable hand history review review. Obviously poker is a game where being results oriented causes major issues, and therefore bad habits can build up, especially in live play where variance is more noticeable.

Facing aggression. Playing without initiative.

+1 to what Jyhani said.. it seemed he was talking about me :P
Jyhani posted on June 06, 2011 at 23:08 PM
And also like stoppingfist said: dealing with aggression. Every time you move up the new level is a tad more aggressive than the previous one so many players (me included) either don't adjust accordingly or over adjust.

taking advantage of crap players (not saying im a pro) for example raising 3times BB with premium ands then someone calling with K6o and assing their way through the hand and somehow winning!
Happens a lot in lower limit SNG i just like to abuse these players but not just in the chat box

Paired boards, when to and not to continuation bet (when I havent hit), dealing with spurious aggression within hands(c/r flop, bet turn, check river), the adjustments needed when facing short/deep stack players.
And as Jyhani said; when to believe and not believe villains bets.

My frustration begin's when I have AKs AQ nice starting hands and it comes out all low cards and now you get the donk bet,you re-raise then they shove and now you are forced to fold.....WTF

Playing versus weak/tight regs. C/R double barrels as bluffs etc. :)

the hand reading question, based on stats

I'm playing a pretty ABC TAG style on 2-10NL.
problems:
- I sometimes spot obvious leaks in other players but I am not able to construct a plan on how to exploit them. Examples: huge fish that bets close to 100% of the time when someone raises and doesn't cbet (miss cbet). How do i exploit him, when I'm raiser+oop?
- Playing oop vs aggression
- when check-calling is a good line oop?
- betsizing
- taking good notes; Sometimes I see villains do ridiculous things, I try to take notes, but in the end it's like a novel. How do I capture the essence?
- tilt ldo
many many more things

Dealing with aggressive 3 bettors, also believe it or not playing on a table with 3 or 4 fish! I seem to be playing multiway pots consistantly and at least one of them hits their draw :-/
