November recap, Dec goals

I managed to play 200 games, but it’s a bit too much for me. I’ll probably not make a volume goal for December (I want to concentrate on studying) and then shoot for 500 games/quarter. I had pretty solid results for the month and I think that I am probably playing a bit better now. Unfortunately, I can still spot a ton of leaks in my game. On the other hand, I guess it’s a good thing.

Our HUSNG team is doing all right, we’ve had a few HH reviews and I’ll probably post a video of my play as soon as I can record an interesting match.

For Dec I’ll try to concentrate on studying – I want to watch the rest of Dogisheadsup theory videos and a solid amount (no less than a dozen) of live play HUSNG ones. I’ll also do some HH review swaps, both on the team and if there’s another one on 2p2. Basically, I want to be ready for moving up to the $23s in January (hopefully, I am still rolled for it at the start of the next year!) and to patch my biggest leaks. I’ll keep updating.

last week recap

I was still recovering from the flu, so there was little interesting in my play, with most of it at the $6.25 level. I did manage to put in some games, which is better than nothing, I guess.

What’s more important, our HUSNG team is alive and buzzing. We have an assortment of members from the $3 to the $100 level and some pretty solid strategy discussion is going on.

On the video front, I’ve watched Dogisheadsup Episode 1, which is a great theory video and a couple Primo live videos. I am strongly considering moving to FTP turbos for a month in order to get more experience in the endgame and playing aggressive opponents, so this week I’ll finish watching Dogisheadsup Episode 2 and watch a couple xSCWx FTP turbo videos, I think.

I also have to play over 40 games if I want to meet my 200 games for the month goal, which is probably not going to be easy. We’ll see how it goes.

weekly review

I had the flu for the better part of last week (and I am far from complete recovery), but I did manage to play quite a lot of games while staying at home. More than 50, to be precise. I did slightly better than breakeven above $11.50s, but I had very good results in the $11.50s and even the occasional $6.25s.

Also, the DC HUSNG group took off, there are a couple other members and some potential ones too. Today I played play money games against one of them and lost 4-2. There were some questionable decisions on my part and some good plays too. The only thing I didn’t like about this exercise is that play money HUSNGs start at 1k chips rather than the usual 1,500 chips.

For this week I cannot set a high volume goal, but I’ll try to play at least 30 more games (I’ve already played 5 today). I’ve also already watched Dogisheadsup, Episode 1 and it is an amazing video. I’ll try to watch a few more videos this week, since I’ll spend at least one more day at home.

last week

I managed to play 35 games. This is not much volume-wise, but I played pretty decently except for one day. I also ran very well, so my BR is practically ready for moving up to the $23s. I’ll probably still play a lot of the $11.50s, keeping the $23s for when I feel I am at my A+ game – I believe in moving up gradually.

I also participated in a 2p2 HH review swap, it’s a very useful thing. I’ll probably start a DC HUSNG group in the secret HQ where we can do similar stuff.

For this week I’ll try to up the game count to 40, while still keeping posting hands and watching videos. Oh, and last week I saw three PrimordialAA videos, got a lot out of them. I’ll probably stick to his videos for this week too.

last week recap

I was only able to play 25 games last week and I am not sure this one will be much better, since I am pretty busy. I’ll try my best to shoot for at least 35 games though. Anyway, I think I played pretty well for my level for the most part. I also played five $23s and ran very well, 4-1. The quality of opponents’ play wasn’t significantly higher than at the $11.50s, to be honest.

I did manage to watch two more videos, or to be precise, a two-part video by HokieGreg. This guy is the nuts for HUSNGs.

This week I’ll try to mix in some $23s again, when I feel I am on my best game (1-0 so far, gogogo:).

Goals for this blog and for Nov

Since I guess that about half of the readers of my regular blog think that poker means draw poker, I decided to make a separate poker blog. My goal for it is to make weekly entries charting my progress (hopefully) and set poker goals for myself in writing.

Right now my Pokerstars BR is about 1060. I’m playing $6.25 and $11.50 turbo HUSNGs, but I am thinking of taking a 5BI shot to the $23 level. I’ll only play at this level when I feel alert and at my A-game and when nothing is distracting me. I have 430 games played on Stars (a lot of those were played a while ago; not all were HU) and my goal is 200 games till the end of November, so I have to get to 630 games played. Also, I want to watch three videos per week.

So far this week I’ve only played a few tourneys (and they don’t count towards my November goal anyway) and watched one video (Primo’s Reinforcing Fundamentals, a very solid video), so I have some catching up to do. Right now I’ll play a 6.25 and then watch a HokieGreg video.
