Getting ready for SXSW!

I’ve been wanting to get hands, but not having a ton of time available for playing lately — so I’ve resorted to using a session timer (I’ve been using Minuteur for Mac ) to play 30 minutes at a time. 4-tabling RUSH (needs to be capitalized, IMO) I’ve managed to get a little over 4k hands in this month, running pretty well. Once this week is over I probably will take a break for a week or so (more on that later) while we attend some conferences and cram on some DC strategy.
The hands I’ve played haven’t really been that interesting — basically Aces held yesterday in a HUGE (700BB+) pot, getting it all in vs. worse ragged Aces and 8643ss (I had his suits covered). I flopped a FD and hit on the turn so I didn’t even have much to sweat over. That turned the day from a -5BI day to a +2BI day in a matter of seconds. The flipside of variance will hit me soon enough, but for now I’m content.
SXSW interactive is coming up next week, so if any of you from Austin want to say hi, just ship me a PM — all of the founders will be there, checking out what is going on in the tech world outside poker.
Many of the ideas that we implement on DC come from studying analogous industries, so we like to take opportunities whenever possible to meet people who work in other fields and figure out what they do to improve their communities. Last year there were some great presentations by Behance , Kathy Sierra , and Gary Vaynerchuk and this year I’m looking forward to hearing Evan Williams (CEO of Twitter) as well as Ze Frank and quite a few others. Speaking of, I’ve got to get around to downloading the iPhone app so I can figure out my schedule for all the conferences this year. So much to see, so little time.
