Playing with a stoploss (HUPLO)
After today I think that I need to work on my tiltless skills in HUPLO significantly more. I’m still up for the month (at the end of the day, I think still about 10BB/100), but the swings of HUPLO really are brutal, and it’s tough for me to figure out when I’m on the right side or the wrong side of variance. To counter my +22BI day the other day, I lost 20BI today. Some huge pots were basically destined to be coinflips (5-bet pot, I have 8765ds, opponent has 6543ss w/diamonds, flop A87 with two diamonds, rest of money goes in, etc). Others, though, I think were a result of me calling 3-bets too light and 5-betting too light myself a few times.
I’m feeling pretty good today despite the huge loss, but I played for far too long and should have quit and worked on some other projects earlier in the day.
Just writing this so that the next time I see my blog, I think a little bit more about mindset and work on my breathing. I’m going to institute a 5BI stoploss for a while as well, which should help significantly. I won’t allow myself to play within 4 hours of a session where I lost 5BI.
