if you have read yesterdays blogpost "your approach of developing", you might have come across the idea of understanding the big picture to be able to learn about details more carefully and more patient.

the mental game of poker

jared tendler's book is very famous these days. he is trying to name all sorts of mishabits, mistreads, just mental issues that might harm you doing your best at the tables. if you'd summon up the topics in jareds book, it is about having the right approach to the game and to put yourself in a position to be able to approach it that way. while the right approach actually is the position to aim for, jared is naming loads of problems that might occur while trying to do that. on the one hand it is on you to make the best decision possible (theory), on the other hand you have to be able to do that in the first palce (mind). 

good decisionmaking is what makes a good pokerplayer a good pokerplayer. the decision has to be based on theory, while you cannot avoid those other things out there, that harm your play. they are more your learned reaction to deal with certain situations. if you have personal issues that might leave you blindfolded, ignorant, in anger or whatsoever, you have to find out why you deal with it the way you do. it has nothing to do with the game itself. nothing. you cannot say that poker makes those issues, poker just let them appear. they already have been there and always will be, unless you get your head straight.. that is not even tilt. it is you. and it is not the right approach to the game. if you are not able to treat poker the way it needs to be treated, you will not be able to make the best decision. and that's it. tilt and mental issues sound very mysterious to us, while "oh i just am approaching it wrong" is so much easier to actually deal with. change and thank yourself.
