So Ive been playing cgs this week nstead of sngs and I have to say I find them alot better. Your edge is bigger so in turn variance is lower and you can change your style of play not just play a set standard sng style. I started playing 6max 25NL 4-6tables but decided to 12 table 9max to reach goldstar by the end of the month. Come to find out im alot better at FR. I enjoy 6max cause it can be played alot more aggro but I tend to think there is alot better players in these games at 25NL. Id sit down play 50 hands and realize it was 4regs and a semi decent player. Then id sit down at 9max with 4 fish and 2 regs and 2 semis. Ill take the later. Ive began doing things I use to never do and its really opened my eyes to poker.
1. Play only when your playing your A game.
2. Table select. If the players to your left are 3 bet happy/ good regs and theres no fish to your right leave!
3. Find the fish, mark them and figure out how to take there money! (usually not to hard)
4. Starting to notice how much you can open up in HJ/CO/BTN if players to your left are tight. (keep my redline from diving.)
5. 3bet bluff regs who open in CO/BTN and fold to 3bets. (found a perfect canidate for this tonight.)
6. Embrace Variance. (Winning AA vs KK all in pre is +Variance for you. You won more then you should)
Ive always known these things from watching videos but never really did them. I was to worried about figuring out what was the best line to take in this spot ect ect when these things will help your winrate just as much.
Im thinking my biggest leaks right now is Cbetting and planning out my hands better (will be better at this once I cut down tables after reaching goldstar). Will be working on those alot in my next sessions. Ill probably make my next month goals here pretty soon. Going to make this months goals more play orriented then $ orriented.
