A Volume prop bet with Vincent
As frequent readers of my blog already know, I am pathologically bad at putting in volume at the tables. In an attempt to overcome this (and hopefully make some good money while I'm at it), I decided to give myself some extra motivation. Vincent (soepgroente) and I have booked a gentleman's wager to each play 40k hands in a month (Oct 18-Nov 17). The stakes are not particularly high, but hopefully enough to motivate us and spur on some friendly competition: for each 10k hand milestone that we fail to reach, we owe the other a $500 freeroll in the next big tournament played. There is no difference between 30,000 hands and 39,999 hands, so reaching the milestones is a big deal. Both cash games and tournaments count, and there is a 1.5x multiplier for mixed game hands (since you simply can't play as many tables of those).Â
I'll update the ol' blog with my progress, at least each time I reach a milestone. With any luck, I'll win lots of gold as well as achieving the goal. Come mid-November I'll be trying my best to distract Vincent because I'll already be done and he'll have a ways to go!
Also, if anyone has interest in joining in, I'm open to taking more action. You'd need to be a slacker like myself for me to consider it, obviously. None of you supernova elite types!
