You should definitely take a look at DTD online sats. Pretty good value for money if you ask me. If you hit them early i.e. way before the real event, the numbers are way down and can have an overlay. I sat'd in through a $30. 40 runners, 10 seats. As for taking a break, sounds like a good idea. If you're there make sure you eat sandwiches at earl's in the Planet Hollywood, they have the best sandwiches in town. Also visit O sheas (across Ceasars) for a game of beer pong (or a night if you got the stamina) and make sure to sit down at the tables here after midnight as everyone is totally wasted. The games are also really soft in Sahara and other casinos at the start of the strip due to all the locals who gamble away their salary. If you're tired of the fastfood and buffets that the strip offer a great (and I mean absolutely great!!!) restaurant to visit is the sushi restaurant 'naked fish'. It's an off strip restaurant but it's of outstanding quality. It tends to attract anything from 50-100 players, and the FT concludes at say 2:30am. So you're talking 6 hours approximately. I must say though that this drunk guy was a rarity down there if i'm honest; i'd say in every tournament down there you might get 1 player like this, but on the whole its a really friendly (sober) place, and I have got to know some of the regs well, and its not so cliquey that you feel out of place if you go on yr own, and even when I join a table of 8 unknowns, its good fun. I'm not a huge live player so I have no sample size to draw from, but the casino I have been at seems to be pretty mild, even though they serve alcohol. But a pub first-casino second I'm sure is different as it brings in a lot of drinkers first, and poker players second. So the etiquette I'm sure is more of bar etiquette, or lack thereof. I played 1 hand horribly though. Level 2, I am in the BB, it folds to the button who raises to 325 (50/100 blinds)the woman in the small blind flats, i peel 99 with a stack of like 5k. Button has a similar stack to me, sb smallest stack. I put the button on a relatively wide range as he was a bit loose and it was folded to him, so he can raise there with such a super wide range. The sb, i put her on a small PP or two face cards that didnt want to face a 3 bet. After a bit of consideration I decide to raise, to 1.6k. The sb congratulates me on the bet (!), the button flats, sb mucks. The flop is a disastrous KJ2 with two diamonds. I considered leading out, but put the K or even the J comfortably in his range, i had no diamonds, I decide to check, he instantly moves all in. i fold quickly, he says "good fold" and says "look i had an Ace" and accidently exposes the other card which is a king, so he clearly had AK. I didnt really think it through enough, i thought i could take it down pre more than anything and prayed for a low flop, basically I donated like 25% of my stack, when I guess I could have flatted. Thoughts, rigged? We will put up with their BS because we know that in the long run they will be shipping us money. I play at a poker club where these two younger guys got completely out of hand one night. They were obviously intoxicated and completely berrating other players. The room boss actually took a discrete survey from other players whether or not they should be booted out for the night, and everyone said NOOOO don't do it. The reasoning was because one of the kids was 7BIs deep and starting to just throw his chips into the wind. After he crashed with 0 left, then we kicked him out ;). Personally I think its good value for sure.. Its a deep stack event, 10k starting chips, and most if not all of the deep stack events sell out (270 players), so prize pool wise, its good 'value' - i think the first prize will be around £4000, as the £100 equivilent of this - the '20:20' is around 8k first prize. If you haven't had live experience though, i'm not sure if the deepstack would be for you in the first instance however. If you do really well for example and get close to the cash, you're going to be sat at the table for at least 9 hours as its an all day event, with lots of players! I've run deep a few times before at the £25 and £50 freezouts and played for like 7 hours a few times, after a full day at work, so i'm kind of used to long sessions. That said obviously I don't know you though and your poker experience, you may play MTTs online and play all night regularly, if this is the case, give the super 50 a shot for sure. And hit me with a message on here if you ever decide to come down, if i'm there i'll come and say hi. If youve any other questions about DTD let me know as i go fairly regularly.
