3rd live profit in a row.
Went to the club last night for a £50 freezeout. Ran into a cooler when a short stack shoves utg – 3k. I peel AQ in the cut off and get it in against him. I’m against A6 and the first card out is a 6 and I don’t hit squat. After that I lost a flip (K9<77), and then I find myself out of the tourney. Not wanting to go home I wander over to the cash desk and get a rack of £100 for a £0.5/£1 game. The table is a callers paradise. It was really weird, every pot you get 6 people throwing a £1 in.
So yeah, 5 limpers, i’m big blind. The dealer doesn’t realise that I’m bb and is about to deal flop. I told him to wait, then obviously I peel kings. I make it like 10 to go. 2 callers(wtf!) Flop is J high, very dry flop. I lead out, one tight passive guy calls, other guy folds. The caller worried me slightly, as he was going to committed if any other bets take place, but with the texture of the board I was happy getting it in and hoping i was against AJ, KJ, J10suited that kinda range. Turn bricks out and I bet call his pitiful shove. Obviously he limp called JJ. Nice hand, i’m down to £65. I could have topped up my stack by now, but I decided to grind it out, with the option of topping up later.
Since the table was so passive I started raising in position and taking down tons of flops. These guys were literally limp calling and folding when not hitting, such a goldmine! I got up to £100 fairly quickly and then went on a rampage and found myself over £300. I did run into 1 cooler- I flopped a King high flush and got in vs two pair and he turns the boat, that took about £100 out my stack.
Then the soulread. A total whale sits at the table. He clearly hadn’t been playing long (he wasn’t always sure when it was his turn!). I got a good read on him. He played strange. He loved raising out of the blinds when limped to, and often he would 3 barrell, betting too large for value, and I saw him showdown garbage once. He would bet smaller when value betting. Not exactly a genius read on my part, but I decided that he would be my mark for winning a good pot. So yeah I raise on the button with 10-9. Whale is sb, he flats, one other caller. The flop is 10 high. He leads out, he loved to do this, take charge of pots and then bet you out of it. I thought there were few hands that I was behind, but rather than bloat the pot when he could have a weird 2 pair, or a backdoor draw that improves (he won’t fold), I elect to flat. Turn is a mid card that brings in a flush draw. He bets big. This is a big tell to me, I like my hand quite a lot now. I call, a low river card comes out and I SNAP his river shove, as soon as the rest of his chips hit the felt. He says, knowing i’m good i table my hand and he mucks. PWND.
I end up cashing out £390 so i’m up overall around £220ish. So i made £400 in the last 3 visits. Pretty pleased with my consistency. These cash games are so ludicrously soft man.
Sick hand of the night that I wasn’t in– Button raises to £3 sb repops to £11. Button calls. JJJ flop. Sb checks, button bets, sb reraises, button reraises, sb shoves button calls. Sb confidently tables Aces. Obviously the button tables Ace Jack! Wow.
