Swings
Today I started a session at 25NL opening only 4 tables 6-max rather than my usual 6-8 tables at 10NL, on the first half an hour I grinded about 1 buy in of profit, but then a hand came where I got 2 outted on the river after getting it in on the turn. Anyways, I steamed and tilted, beware I lost not only the buy in I had grinded before but in the space of about half an hour I lost almost 4 buy ins due to tilt and poor play.
I failed to recognized the first sign of me tilting when I got it in with JJ on a Q high board when I was clearly beaten and my opponent showed bottom set and went on to spew a few more dollars.
I took a break and went steam (smoke) outside and analyze my play and my opponents, I practiced a bit of Tommy Angelo’s breathing for a while and after about 30 minutes I decided that I’m better than my opponents so I should play and take their money, well although I ran good and got paid off on a few spots my opponents should have clearly folded I did manage to get some money back. In the period of about 3 hours I was playing my A game at the tables I managed to get 7 buy ins, not only recovering what I had lost but grinding a pretty decent profit. Chasing losses? Well one could argue that I was, but in the end I felt confident of my ability to outplay and win against my opponents, I used total concentration on the game and took my time to take the decisions that matter, I got lucky in a few spots when I got the miracle card or when I floated and hit but the decisions I took were meaningfull, they all had a purpose, they were all part of a bigger plan for the individual hand.
I am happy with my results today, and although some people might think I was chasing losses, deep down inside I knew I could win and I knew I would win if only I could bring my best game to the felt, I managed to and I did win.
End of post nr. 1
