Valuebetting, I like!

Hello everyone,

I just played another Session tonight. It went pretty well, I invested a lot of time selecting proper tables and was very disciplined leaving them as soon as the very profitable fishes left. Except a short “too agressive” period, everything went pretty well and I felt very comfortable playing.

Heres the Graph:

And here some Keyhands:

V was a “not-so-good”-Reg, I played very agressive on that table. Therefore I kept betting from the turn on. On the river I wanted to just b/f, as ppl might make those herocalls with crazy hands, I didnt see him bluffing though. Therefore I most like saw him betting with better hands only. Well, and if he had raised me there, im crushed and can easily fold. Comments?

Hand #1:

Full Tilt Poker $25.00 No Limit Hold’em – 4 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

Hero (BB): $25.00
CO: $34.94
BTN: $30.63
SB: $27.59

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BB with K Spade T Diamond
1 fold, BTN raises to $0.75, 1 fold, Hero raises to $2.50, BTN calls $1.75

Flop: ($5.10) 5 Club 3 Spade 5 Spade (2 players)
Hero checks, BTN checks

Turn: ($5.10) T Club (2 players)
Hero bets $3.40, BTN calls $3.40

River: ($11.90) 6 Spade (2 players)
Hero bets $6.00, BTN calls $6

Final Pot: $23.90
Hero shows K Spade T Diamond
BTN mucks A Diamond K Club
Hero wins $22.71
(Rake: $1.19)

Hand #2:
V: 33/3 fish, fold to cb: 50%, f to 2barrel: 53%

I just kept betting my OESD, mass equity and there are better hands he might fold. Guess/Hope thats standard? The river was awefull though. So many draws he might have called with might have hit here and well, im just not betting a lot here. KQ was kind of obvious and well, I dont know why I called, guess that was an obvious mistake, even though he bet quite small?

Flop: ($2.25) Q Club T Diamond 2 Heart (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.40, SB calls $1.40

Turn: ($5.05) 6 Diamond (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $3.00, SB calls $3

River: ($11.05) K Diamond (2 players)
SB bets $4.20, Hero calls $4.20

Final Pot: $19.45
SB shows Q Diamond K Spade
Hero mucks K Club J Spade
SB wins $18.48
(Rake: $0.97)

Hand #3:

V: 68/20 fish, fold to cb: 50%, fold to 2b: 22%

Well, again I never see him bluffing but calling with FD, worse Queens or whatsoever. Thats why I bet twice, pretty small though (thin value). When his draws busted on the river, I then didnt know whats the best to do. I dont see him calling with his draws here, wasnt sure if he could bluff’em. Whats ur opinion about this line?

Going down ...

Hello everyone,

yesterday I played another Session and well, what shall I say, I ran really bad. Mainly 2 Hands ruined my Session. Though, my NSDW were still up, which was at least sth I am proud of :)

Heres the graph:

Hand 1:

V was a losing reg. Guess its okay to get it in at the turn, or isnt it?

Hero shows K Spade T Spade
BB shows J Heart Q Heart

Going Up ...

Hello everyone,

in the rest of the last Week I mainly discussed a lot of Hands with people I think that really have a good knowledge of poker. I keep learning a lot about cbetting + 2barreling and how to properly make a good plan for a Hand from the flop on. That really seemed to be a big leak in my former play. I used to just cbet because the board seemed fine, but didnt really make a plan for the rest of the Hand. Now that I do, I’m getting into less tough spots and my Agression is rising. That still didnt totally fix my NSDW problem, but it seems to get better :)

Due to a confirmation, I couldnt play on the Weekend except today. Heres my graph for today. I already posted some Hands in the Forum, ill post some “nice/interesting” hands here tomorrow as well, as I’m very tired right now.

Feel free to comment or msg @ skype (ch3rubim).

Greets!

First Session + Sweat

Hello everyone,

first of all, I want to thank “greco” for contacting me so spontaneously and do a long and very interesting Sweat Session. We talked a lot about cbetting and 2barreling and came to the conclusion that that might be a reason for my constantly falling red line. Furthermore about general stuff like openraising-range, 3betting range vs different opponents etc.. Pretty basic topics but nevertheless very interesting.

During the sweat Session we sadly didnt hit well but still had BE NSDWs. Afterwards I played a short session alone and sadly couldnt really implement the hints, at least thats what I think. But I think/hope we talk about the spots I wasnt sure what to do.

Anyway, heres the day-Graph :)

Theres one Hand I’m not very proud of, I dont like (rather hate it) the way I played it but neither know what would be a good line:
V: 27/23 on 30 Hands, due to the small sample, I didnt use any further stats in this Hand.

Full Tilt Poker $25.00 No Limit Hold’em – 6 players
The Official DeucesCracked.com Hand History Converter

CO: $25.00
Hero (BTN): $25.70
SB: $134.78
BB: $25.70
UTG: $35.51
MP: $26.70

Pre Flop: ($0.35) Hero is BTN with K Heart T Diamond
3 folds, Hero raises to $0.75, SB calls $0.65, 1 fold

Flop: ($1.75) K Club 9 Spade 7 Diamond (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $1.20, SB calls $1.20

Just my standard cbet on a pretty dry board, see him calling with quite a lot worse hands like PP, some SDs possible etc.

Turn:
($4.15) 8 Heart (2 players)
SB checks, Hero bets $2.90, SB raises to $8.75, Hero calls $5.85

Pretty bad Turn imo, some SDs may have hit, maybe he now has a SD. As I didnt know how he plays Draws/made Hands, I guess I should have just checked behind and reevaluate on the river. When he c/r me, I guess he at least has a pair + draw, or really made the Straight. Dont see no K in his Range he wouldnt 3b preflop but raise now. So I did hope that when I call here, he might check on a blank River.

River:
($21.65) 9 Diamond (2 players)
SB bets $15.00, Hero folds

Well, even a totally strange played 9 beats me, I mainly have a bluffcatcher, therefore, easy fold. Still I think my main mistake was the Turn.

Final Pot:
$21.65
SB wins $20.57
(Rake: $1.08)

I like this 2nd Hand, any comments? When the Hand was played, he seemed like a standard “solid” player.

Flop: ($6.85) 2 Spade Q Club 6 Heart (2 players)
MP checks, Hero bets $3.75, MP raises to $9, Hero folds

Final Pot: $14.35
MP wins $13.64
(Rake: $0.71)

And last but not least the biggest pot in my Session … a nice little setup :)

Flop: ($2.65) J Spade 6 Diamond 5 Club (3 players)
BB bets $1.75, UTG raises to $4, Hero calls $4, BB calls $2.25

Turn: ($14.65) J Diamond (3 players)
BB bets $5.25, UTG raises to $23.17, Hero calls $20.15 all in, BB calls $15.25 all in

River: ($75.80) 3 Diamond (3 players – 2 are all in)

Final Pot: $75.80
BB shows J Club A Club
UTG shows 5 Diamond 5 Heart
Hero shows 6 Club 6 Spade

Ill post further Hands in the forum if you guy are interested.

Looking forward for the next sweat session with Greco, wish me good luck :)

3...2...1...Rebuild

Hello everyone,

after having failed stepping up to NL50SH several times now, im really really disappointed and this is going to be my LAST attempt to rebuild the BR to hopefully then sucesfully shot NL50 again. Therefore I’m really motivated to stick to my rules, which are:

  1. max 1,5h Sessions
  2. BRM: BR > 250$ —> NL10, BR > 625$ —> NL25, BR>1500$ —> NL50, I’ll think about my BRM from NL50 on when I finally reached it :)
  3. max 4-tabling (as thats an amount I think I can handle and still will be able to improve my game)
  4. To go through the Hands after EVERY Session and post the most important Hands here and at 2 Board so that better players can give me some advice. This is the most important rule for me, as this is where my discipline sometimes failed during my last attempts.

Furthermore I’m going to post at least the graph of every Session here. I’m also posting the same things at 2 different Boards to get as much Feedback as possible. I’ll cash out and start with a BR of 625$, to motivate myself to play good Poker right away, if my first Session will be a losing session I’ve got to play NL10 again (see BRM Rules). And by cashing out some money I give myself the feeling that the last 6 months were not wasted (after having lost way too much at NL50).

I’d appreciate any comments on my play and please correct my english if I’m making any mistakes. Furthermore, if anyone who reads this is interested in U2U coachings, just msg @ Skype (Acc: ch3rubim)

The first Session will probably be played this afternoon, so stay tuned.

For those who are interested, some information about me. My name is Oliver, I’m 23y old and I’m studying process engineering (specialising in thermal process engineering and power engineering, 8th Semester). I played poker for the first time about 5 years ago, was pretty succesfull in the beginning (played NL100/200). After finishing school, I went to Australie for 6 months and therefore cashed out most of my BR. After returning to Germany, I didnt start playing poker again right away, as studying was most important to me. After the 4th/5th Semester, I finally had more time again and started to play again. I managed to grind a BR for NL50 pretty fast, but always failed at NL50 (I think and hope for a big part due to bad timed downswings :) ).

Cheers and good luck!
