Mountain Dews

So I decided I was going to go to Foxwoods this last week. What a decision. I figured I would play 20/40 stud or LHE as these are my main games. Pretty standard. So I bring 3.3k which is plenty to play live 20. I meet up with fellow deucescracked member estronudo and we decide to play from Thursday to Saturday. A solid 3 days. I arrive at Foxwoods after picking up estronudo and I sit down at the 20 LHE game and meet a guy named Jared who ended up being Durron on twoplustwo. Nice guy. I play my first 20 hour sesh and end up a little bit at 3.7k. Can’t complain. The next day I see a 75 stud game and I think to myself “wow, this game is so soft I gotta jump in it!” So I do. It’s a 75/150 HOE game with a bunch of reg fish. A mid stake grinder’s dream to take a shot. I sit down and start swinging violently since I only bought in for 2k so I deciede maybe I shouldn’t be in this game, but by the time I figure that out I’m stuck 2k down to my last 1.4k ish. I get up after taking a beat that is standard for those stakes but pretty significant given the money I brought. I am a little tilted at this point and as I’m headed away from the table I see a shorthanded 5/10 game running. So again I think… “Why not? At this point I’m stuck 2k and I’m leaving soon I’ve lost 3k before in a day no biggie” I sit down with a kid in a fulltilt sweatshirt, an Asian man, and a young kid in a celtics jersey straddling every hand. I think “jackpot this is where I’m going to break even.” I keep playing small pots and winning until the game breaks and there is only me and the kid with the fulltilt sweatshirt and he seems eager to play me HU. So I accept his challenge and we play. I end up stacking him in a 3.4k pot with AKo to 55 AIPF. Obviously I’m happy about this and he leaves and I go back to my room. That’s the end of night two of three which I planned to stay. The next day I had tasted 5/10nl and I wasn’t about to leave that game now. So I go down to the poker room and jump on the 5/10 list. I play in the game with the famous “smiley” and James Woods. They are both reg fish and I love my seat. We end up playing and talking into the morning. I eventually finish down 700 to be back at 3k. Its saturday and Estronudo has to leave so I go back to his place and sleep over expecting to leave in the morning with an even trip. Unforunteatly for me I figured why not go back and play then leave that day since estronudo lived only 20 minutes from foxwoods and I lived 2.5 hours. I wake up in the morning after not sleeping for awhile and head back to the woods. I jump in the 5/10 NL game with my 1k buyin and 2k in my pocket. I run well and play probabably the best poker in my life making thin calls good bluffs and value bets. I make 2.5k making my 3k wad into 5.5k. Happily I am ready to leave when I remember wait I am getting player points for playing these stakes. So I go to the desk and get a free 2 night comp… Bastards. I get a double queen room and head to it to take another 5/10 shot in the morning. It’s now Monday and I’m ready to play. I meet a bunch of cool regs at 5/10 and feel like I’m quickly becoming one of them. I figure out who’s tight who’s loose who’s bad/good etc. It doesn’t take long till I’m tearing up the table again up 2.5k, down 1k, up 1.5k. I end up down 1.5k on the day going to bed with 4k. Tuesday I wake up and play a bunch for a break even stretch and go to sleep early. Wednesday I wake up with 5k ready to gamble. I go down to the room and make a quick 2k. I’m at 7k and loving it. I drop a quick 500 giving me a very uneasy feeling like I should stop playing. I got it AI on the flop with the nuts vs a set of tens and he boated up leaving my Broadway the second best hand. I go back to my room shower up and feel great ready to play again. I head back down this time only with 3k in my pocket and i put 3.5k in my safe. I sit down at 5/10 and start playing, but i start playing bad. I make a couple of marginal moves with top pair and gutshot on the flop against an overpair. We get it in on the flop and the pot is shipped his way. I’m down 2k now and I’m not feeling good. I start tilting and I lost that mental state that is oh so important to a poker player. I make some stupid bluffs and I’m eventually stuck 2.5k. “Great” I thought, I knew i shouldn’t have played today, I should have not played after being up 1.5k. So Now I’m pretty tilted and the game breaks. Out of the blue two wasted guys sit down. “Awesome, maybe ill make some back” I thought. One of the guys who was younger says outloud “I HATE NL LETS PLAY STUD” So I’m thinking, “awesome i am ready for this.” He challenges me to HU 100/200 stud and I only have 1.8k in front of me so we decide on HU 75/150. We get to talking and he ends up being a HU pro online and we agree to stop after I’m up 500 on him. So back to 2k and total cash is 5.5k… not bad. Needless to say after this sesh happens I go back to the 5/10 and ship that 2k right back. 3.5k in my safe and I’m tilted. I say fuck it im going to bed and head back to the room.

This morning I wake up and think, good I’m untiltled let’s play some 5/10. I grab my 3.5k out of my safe and head to the WPT poker room. I sit down with 1k and it’s gone within 10-20 minutes when I have top pair and a gutshot to an over pair. 2.5k and I’m tilting balls now. The rest of it essentially gets spewed away in bad bluff spots and obvious mistakes.
Now I’m sitting here with no cash except for money in my bank account which I refuse to take out for obvious reasons (I’m tilting monkeys) and about to go get free Panera for the 7th time this trip.
