The Little League World Series Bugs Me
I used to love watching the LLWS as a kid, it was something fun to end the summer and I looked forward to it every year. However as I've grown older I still watch when there's nothing else on but some things really annoy me.
- It's basically turned into home run derby. There are limited doubles and I'm not sure I've ever seen it a triple. The bat technology has grown and made the field too small. They need to move the fences back and at least bring some extra base hits into play.
- The Parents, ESPN gives them way too much air time.
- Coaches allowing their kids to throw a million curve balls a game. I personally don't think breaking balls should be allowed at that age and think they should just teach kids a fastball and change-up. I haven't looked up any studies but know that kids are getting arm surgery earlier than ever nowadays and this is part of the major reason why.
- The size of the strike zone. Yes I know it's little league and the strike zone is bigger so we don't have three hour games but at the little league world series it should be a normal strike zone. You have kids throwing the equivalent of 90+ MPH and yet umpires routinely give pitchers strikes in the other batters box, that's just unfair.
With that being said, it's obviously awesome for the kids and when they're the focus of the game it's great. However, it just seems like it could be better to me.

Back when Tiger Woods had his knee surgery someone interviewed the doctor that did the surgery.
They asked him what is the most common surgery he does.
His answer was Tommy Johns surgery on 15-17 year old kids.
I agree breaking balls shouldnt be tought till the kid is 15+

Were there ever triples in the LLWS? Seems like with a team full of all-stars and small fields that a triple is pretty damn difficult.
Dunno if you've read any of kyleb's stuff on 2p2 or driveline when it was up, but he talks a bunch about kids throwing breaking stuff. Really good stuff as far as mechanics.

Nope, never read it although I'd be interested if you have a link.
And yeah triples were never a part of the LLWS, the field is just too small.

And Bonito, that's amazing.
