I think it's time to pronounce the 2010 Redsox dead. As I've written the past couple weeks, this team has been fun to root for through all their injuries and a few cool stories however I think they have just a bit too much to overcome. They needed to go at least 5-2 on this homestand against a bad Cleveland team and an injury riddled Detroit team and right now their best case scenario is 4-3. They're chasing the 2 best teams in baseball, they're still banged up, and they have no bullpen.
Tonight's loss against Cleveland was the most depressing of the season. It wasn't heart breaking, devastating, etc, it was just depressing. Tonight sort of confirmed what I was hoping not to see this year, they just don't seem to be good enough. With that being said, strange things happen all the time in baseball and it only takes one hot streak to get back in it, I just don't see it coming. I'll have a season write-up at the end of the year but for now I'll be watching the rest of the season with very little expectation, or unless they rope me back in with a good road trip.
- I've been playing a ton of tennis with my brother lately. We generally play one set up to 10 and I can't for the life of me figure out how to beat him. I've been broke to lose 11-9 (was down 9-6), 10-8, 10-8, 10-8, 12-10. We're not very good but of course as any sport against your sibling we act like it's the fifth set at Wimbledon. So yeah, I can't explain how much I hate losing to him and if I get broke to lose one more time, well I am just going to snap.
- It's so difficult to teach the scoring of tennis to someone that doesn't know.
- My long time readers know I've lost a lot of weight and I've gained a few pounds back because I can't stay away from chocolate, hoping to avoid it for the rest of August. Through tennis and running I still feel pretty good though, but not being able to go through the kitchen without grabbing a snack is annoying. The simple solution would be to not buy junk food, well I can't go by it in the store either without picking it up.
- I'm thinking about going to the US Open. I watch most of the Open every year I've been reading a bit about hotels and transportation there. Also, I think it'd be really cool to see a night session. From what I've read is if I get there for the first couple of rounds is to get a grounds pass and go to town at the smaller courts. Between that and Fenway about a week later it'd be a cool couple of weeks.
