One of the players from my legion team recently committed to the University of Maryland. Reading some Maryland message boards they were pumped up to get him especially since he was being recruited by other big name schools such as LSU.
Here is a great article on him. He’s had a great senior season so far and I’m hoping he gets drafted in the top 10 rounds.
Many people don’t realize the skill difference between a big conference D1 player and a solid high school baseball player. However, watching this kid play for one game he clearly stands out.
I remember the first game he played for me, he was at short and the leadoff man walked and stole second. The next hitter hit a one hopper back to the mound and the kid at second wandered off too far. Our pitcher threw behind and Cito caught the ball, tagged the runner, and fired to first all in one motion to complete the double play. It was one of the more amazing things I had ever seen on a baseball diamond.
Beyond that he’s a great kid who shows up to the field first and plays the game the right way, I wish him nothing but the best in the future.
