And Stars didn’t welcome me back :(

Short Story is, cat is much better now, although more cuddly now, but in order to help my mum get over a few things and pay for the vet bills I’ve had to withdraw about 30% of my roll from Stars which was a bit of a kick in the balls. Hopefully the VIp increase and Stellar bonuses etc can lead me back to where I was in a decent amount of time.

First session back start well, felt like I was hand reading ok and playing decently although one of my tables was the shits as it had one guy who feels like capping me is his purpose in life it seems (although I can’t blame him and he plays pretty well) in position on me followed by marchinvest also on the table which felt pretty crappy.

But anyway things got off to a flying start and included a situation with me flopping quads:

I’m wondering how over-zealous I am here. First off the pre-flop 3-bet is wide, especially if the BB is willing to cap me wide (hint: he is). Once bet 3-bet on the flop I don’t think I can let go although it’s close, I pretty much should only beat a pretty badly overplayed flush draw but the pot’s pretty big. I have outs non-set hands though so i think I’ve got to at least see the river. What I do there is up for debate but this stinks of a “fuck it” call.

Hmm not sure I like AQ here I mean….uh wtf?

I knew the guy I was up against here was aggressive but I didn’t know he was THAT OTT. Obviously I chage play and cap him knowing that in the future.

If I give him a range for 3-betting a UTG raise of ATs+, KQ, AJo+ and 88+ then I’m a 48/52 dog on the flop despite hitting top pair so I think my line is ok, especailly if he’s aggro enough to 3-barrell. Obv if he’s 3-betting 33 then change up.

My last hand of the night. When this guy went all in with his big 11% equity and I was stuck in a war with MI and others on the other tables I knew I was slipping and decided to call it a day.

On the plus side my mum didn’t need as much as we’d thought so I’ve put some aside to save for the US and some more on an XBox 360 :) Mmm retail therapy.

By this time next week I should be belting out Plastic Rock with all the dignity and skill of the type of person who does that sort of thing….oh I see.

Ah well never mind. About 23BB down on the session overall, not the best start but could have been worse and there will be plenty more time to get some play in this year.
