Intro
About me- I'm a 30 year old professional poker player/coach, although I don't coach much these days. I'm currently homeless, but (hopefully) not the type of homeless that ends up giving handjobs in a Burger King bathroom for pocket change. At the end of the summer I'll be moving to either Austin or back to Pittsburgh, depending on how miserable I want to be over the winter.
I'm wrapping up the worst summer of my poker career, at least financially. Aside from a small 4k score at the start of the summer, I bricked everything I played including cash games where I played/ran pretty terribly in some big spots. It's pretty demoralizing since I had a good few months coming into the series and had high hopes. I ended up semi-bubbling the main event about 80 spots before the money, which was super disappointing but made me realize a few things. First, there were so many cool, tricky spots that came up, which really rekindled my interest in tournaments and desire to play them. Second, I realized that I take wayyyy too many hands off, both live and online, and lose focus far too frequently. That needs to change if I'm ever going to have a better summer and be where I want to be, both financially and as a player.
This blog is my attempt to chronicle my development as a poker player, both technically and psychologically, over the next year and beyond. I generally think posting a public personal blog is one of the more narcissistic things one can do online, but that's probably fine since I wouldn't argue if someone called me a narcissist to begin with. Hopefully someone out there can learn through my posts or at least know that someone else is out there on a similar path.Â

Definitely subscribing to this blog. Tho I'm not at the same stage you are on my poker "career", I feel I'm half-assing it too. I don't have any doubts that I'll be able to learn lots through your posts.

Were you staked for the main event? How about other events? Otherwise it seems quite strange to be homeless and playing stuff that costs thousands of $.
I remember your podcast on Deuce Plays, it was very interesting. Sad it didn't work out for you. Gogogo rebuilding

Good luck with the turnaround.
And bellatrix, i think it's homeless in the balugawhale sense, not the hobo sense.

Bella,
I sold action in the main, but nothing else. And yeah, I'm only homeless in the sense that I'm not currently settled.

Sounds like a good plan bones. I'm blogging for similar reasons, but I'm much younger on my poker path. Subscribing and looking forward to the year's journey. Cheers!
