"Better" FTP Note icons

Sometimes I find it difficult to differentiate between some of the similar shades of note icon colours in the lobby. I decided to modify the image to make it a bit clearer.

If you like them, right-click Save As, and copy them to a temp folder to begin with. Save a backup copy of the original image files in case you want to revert back to them (e.g. rename them to something like "PlayerNotesColours - backup.png" ), and then move the new downloaded images into the correct folder. The folder and file names for each image file are listed below each image, below. Finally, remove the "-Gradient" part of the downloaded files name so it matches the original file name (I changed the file names while I was working on different ideas). The end result will look something like this (lobby and table views):

Lobby (icons shown while table selecting)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\Lobby\Buttons\PlayerNotesColours.png

Table (player note icons next to player name, and note pop-up window icons)

C:\Program Files (x86)\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\NewTable\Common\Pod\RankDiodes.png

C:\Program Files (x86)\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\NewTable\Common\Dialogs\PlayerNotes\Diodes.png

Note: I changed the note icon location (RankDiode.png) on the tables slightly up to make it more central relative to the player names (otherwise it was displayed in the lower left corner of the pod area). To do so, modify the Layout.xml file in the following folder (again, make a backup copy of this file first in case you make a mistake!):

C:\Program Files (x86)\Full Tilt Poker\Graphics\NewTable\RaceTrack\Layout.xml

Search for the line (near the end):

<image_object x="5" y="29" url="Graphics/NewTable/Common/Pod/RankDiodes.png" id="rank_nobadges" />

and change it to

<image_object x="8" y="20" url="Graphics/NewTable/Common/Pod/RankDiodes.png" id="rank_nobadges" />

Restart client for change to take effect. (I don't use Classic table view, so don't know what to change X/Y to in that folder's Layout.xml)

[AHK] Transfer FTP Notes to HEM

Original thread on 2+2 here, I just updated the text to reflect current situation.

Notes in Full Tilt and HEM

I built a simple AHK tool to allow you to transfer your FTP notes to the HEM db, using HEM's note import feature. This particular tool might  work best for users who do not currently create their notes in HEM, but would like to start (HEM's import tool does not exactly update any notes you have modified, I believe it adds the modified note in it's entirety to the end of the first one, with the date added, if there is any difference between the text, so you might need to do some editing later).

e.g. if your note reads "Aggressive with FD on flop? / shuts down on turn" and you remove the "?" and change it to "Aggressive with FD on flop / shuts down on turn", if you re-import the note it will read something like "[Date] Aggressive with FD on flop? / shuts down on turn [Updated Date] Aggressive with FD on flop / shuts down on turn". As it happens, I believe you should date your notes so you can get a sense of whether they are still applicable, so adding the date to any notes is a good tactic anyway.

I have written this as a simple AHK script which takes the contents of your PlayerName.xml file and creates a .HMNotes file that can be imported into HEM. I have also created a new graphics file that makes the HEM note icons look like FTP note icons. Alternatively, you can 'map' the FTP note icons to the existing HEM icons (a mix of colours and graphical icons) by modifying the AHK script. I prefer the FTP colours.

Useless without pics, so:

These are the replacement HEM Note Icons, created to match the FTP Icons:

Q. Why is it better to keep notes in HEM than FTP?
A.

"Does anyone know how to get notes from one computer to another? I copy *screenname*.dat and *screenname*.xml, but when FTP loads it says it's converting my notes, and I lose them"

"Does anyone's FTP delete their 'username'.xml file every once and a while? So annoying... (Vista 64bit)"

"wtf is this ****??
I log into FTP, a window pops up saying "player notes conversion"

Now like 90% of my color codings of players are gone!!!
"

"my notes and player tabs keep getting erased like at least once a week. i just uninstalled and reinstalled ftp software, which hopefully will work. any one else had same problem?"

In general, you should take a backup of your PlayerName.xml file periodically to avoid losing all your notes if there is a problem.

If you only want to update your HEM icons to mimic the FTP Note Icons, you can use one of the following updated image files (renamed correctly as described in the instructions), these are all contained in the zip file:
