A little more about me

My real name is Arash, pronounced Are-Ash. I am 24 yrs old and currently fighting my way through school. I never really was that into school but I went because, well, it seemed like the right thing to do.

“you just do it because you think you have to. Well that’s just a waste of time”,

I heard that quote in the movie the grand and that is pretty much how I feel with school. Even though, I do view it as a challenge. I do like putting myself in different situations just to see how I perform. I think failure is the best way to learn. I have discovered over the years that by failing it forces you to look within yourself and find out what you do wrong in fix it. While it hurts to fail still and sometimes I still get scared I embrace it rather than take it as something devastating.

At first, like most people, I was obsessed with tournaments. It’s pretty obvious why. But I am currently playing FR cash games at 100NL. I decided a little bit ago that I need a bread and butter game, a game I can go back and grind a bankroll up to play tournaments, haha.

Cash game players hate tournaments, Tournament players hate cash games. I want to love both but overall I enjoy the tournament atmosphere over the cash game atmosphere. I especially enjoy live tournaments over online but I want to be balanced at everything. I don’t want to be just an online cash game player. I don’t want to be just a live tournament player.

Why limit yourself? Poker has so much to offer as far as enjoyment, money and life lessons. I feel like I’ve learned more from poker than going to school or from other people. You know why?

Because poker is real. Poker is like life. It’s unfair, it can be brutal, there is luck involved, there are ups and downs, good times and bad but when it comes down to it the best people and the best players are the ones who adjust. The ones who don’t let one thing in their life or at the poker tables break them. They take it in stride, learn something about it and move on. That is what makes a good person and a good poker player and I believe they go hand in hand.
