Back to Tournaments

I've been studying my ass of working on my cash game but its been extremely hard to put in time. The amount of hands I'd need to put in at my stakes to get out of them would take up all my time. While I have had stretches where I have come home every night to play until I'm exhausted or wake up before work and play its been tough keeping that consistent. I work from 9-7AM Monday thru Saturday and I also balance a social/family life not to mention going on ridiculous stupid benders where I drown my body in substances ahahaha.....

Anyways, I spewed a big chunk of my roll recently playing 50 HU PLO vs this bad aggro fish who hadn't played until last August. He was down 16K overall and 5K at 50PLO HU alone. He started out spewing his nut sack off but once he took a few stacks from me he stopped spewing so much, coolered me a few times, and then I started spewing stacks. The good thing is that I wasn't down or I didn't beat myself up over it! I was really excited about that! In fact It really didn't phase me. I knew what I had to do next which was grind back up from the micros.

With that being said with my schedule right now its not realistic for me to put in a huge amount of hands at the micros. I can play up to 9 tables FR and 6 tables of 6 max but, I don't know, I feel like it will be really tough for me.

I have been somewhat decent in the past playing tournaments and SNG's. I have a decent tournament resume and SNG resume so I think I will focus all of my efforts on them at the moment. At the same time I can't deny how much studying cash games has helped me become a better poker player. I mos def will not stop learning PLO or NL cash games while I play tournaments. What I will play? Mostly Knockout SNG's and micro stake tournaments. My friend Johnny is also willing to throw me in some $20 tournys here and there so I think I'll be alright. My thinking is that I will give myself an opportunity to at least bink a tournament and create a roll for myself while in Micro cash games that opportunity never has a chance to exist. Also, I will play live $50, $100, and $200 whenever I have a chance and have a little extra cash lying around. Those are super soft with small fields. The local casino an hour a way from my house is full of fish. I think I may also go back to scouting out live underground cash games. I used to make a good amount of money making "the rounds" in Denver. Nothing to quit my job over but good enough where I was comfortable. Those are just as soft and maybe even softer than a casino depending on the game.

My last big score was almost 2 years ago where I double final tabled for 10K. All in all I feel a lot more comfortable in tournaments and right now I need to re-build confidence as well as my roll. To me, tournaments have always been so much fun!

Wish me Luck
