A 2 on a 10 point scale
Hmmmmm
I was reading delcrossb's well courtesy of HRpaperstacks blog and noticed something brilliant!!
Someone asked how would you rate yourself as a poker player on a 10 point scale? And he replied 4!
WOW! Thats some real self honesty there and leaves a lot of room for improvement in his game! Considering most people rate themselves above average in all categories and if we have 5 as average he's rating himself as below average! I don't really think he thinks he's below average but I think this demonstrates the right mind set to have, always leaving yourself plenty of room to improve.
So if he's a 4 and he's a coach and winning player then what would you rate yourselves?
If I was to rate myself I think with everything I have been through up to this point I would be a 2. What would the general population be? Probably like a .03 or could you rate them as negative since they are losing players? Lets just say that 0 is as low as you can go. I guess the general population would rate somewhere around a 0 to .03.
So if Del is rating himself as a 4, and I'm assuming thats the type of self honesty you need to succeed as he has demonstated, then what about players a few steps above him? 6's? With the top of the mountain being the high stakes/nose bleed guys at maybe 8's?
Lets also just say that you can't ever be a perfect 10 but achieving levels of perfect 10's is sustainable for periods of time. Also, it should get more and more difficult to rate after 4 or 5.
It means I still have plenty of room for impovement!
