The Journey Begins

Why do I feel that I will stick to HU SNG’s? Because I like the concept of them. The idea of going heads up against someone else with the winner doubling their buy-in and taking everything seems great.

There are no other players to think about its just you vs. him. Two warriors facing each other, trying to come up with a strategy to defeat the other guy and pummel him until you either break him or you punish him and torture him until he breaks himself in his own head and makes a mistake. It is a great challenge, you have to be focused and thinking every hand, you have to have discipline and not go on tilt when he sucks out, because if you still have chips the match is not over, unless you just forfit it by doing something dumb you are still alive and have to fight all the way through. If you play every match that way at the end of the day I feel confident the one with the most discipline and skill will be victorious.

Ok so enough with that rant, as of today I have played 31 games since I started on 05/02/09 which seems like a while ago but its only been 8 days. These are my stats so far, they are the filtered stats of heads up 2-4 playes because I’m also doing 4 player heads up shootouts as well as they are even more profitable. Its a small sample but I feel I’m doing good.

Username Games Played Av. Profit Av. Stake Av. ROI Total Profit Form Network Filter
xxxxxxxxxxx 31 $0 $2 19% $13 WLWWLWL FullTilt <1Mths E<=4 G=H Heads Up SNG Only x

So my ROI is 19% with a $13 profit, I don’t know how to post an image of my graph but I’ll find out, either way the heads up stats have definitly made my SNG sharkscope less embarrasing. When I first started I was at a -4% ROI with a loss of I think $13, it was bad but its going up right now Im 3% ROI and I’m in the green with a $1 profit lol.

So my goals for this week is to play as much as I can and put volume while playing my best game and improving, I will be focused and I’m gonna try to learn from the losses as well as the wins.

HU SNG's might be the Answer

This is going to be my first blog entry. I decided to make this Blog about me playing HU SNG’s so I would stick to them and give them a chance instead of moving to something else in the first sign of dissapointment or idk for some other excuse that I seem use.

I am the kind of person who jumps from one thing to the other quickly and never sticks to anything. Poker is actually the only thing that for some reason has kept me playing for over 2 years. Maybe its because I can’t seem to beat it no matter what I do or what I learn so the challenge keeps me motivated to keep learning and improving.

In the past year I have played everything from NLHE 6M where it seemed that I won 1 or two buy ins just to have it all taken away on a cooler, to LHE FR where I was slowly leeking money, to stud which was a game that I feel I have a good feel for and was beating, so I decided to try Stud8 which I did fairly good at. After watching from A donk to a Stud I started playing HORSE, starting first at the .5-.10 tables I moved up to the .10-.20 tables and then finally after doing good and with a smaller than suggested bankroll went up to .25-.50 games where I did good until a couple of nights of running terrible took half my bankroll.

After that I gave up poker… for about a week. I did not like the feeling of being defeated so instead of grinding back in Horse I started playin SNG’s because I thought it would be a “quick” way to grind a bankroll to take to the .25-.50 horse tables again but it turns out I run terribly unlucky on the bubble(HEM luck adjusted says so) and went even further south, however after playing a few SNG I found that everytime I found myself heads up I would crush. If I got down to two people I was pretty confident I could take it down.

I researched info about the profitability of HU SNG’s and it turns out that they seem to be a very good way to grind up a bankroll while learning to play many hands heads up and are very fun(kind of). So I have decided that I will turn all of my focus to HU SNG’s and stick to them as I go up the ranks and learn from them.

I am going to end this one here because its running long and continue with it in the next one about what I have done so far with HU SNG’s.
