Last post on 9/11 in this blog (probably not)

Over the past few weeks I have been involved in an exchange with several smart and reasonable people on this forum (that's why I like DC, it's like the oracle, so many gifted thinkers in one place) about the 9/11 discussion. The thread is here.

I hope this is the last post I make on it as getting flamed for asking reasonable questions is not my cup of tea. Go ahead and flame me for being a Leeds fan or liking the Arctic Monkeys on facebook, because we all know that's irrelevant chit chat anyway. This issue however is more important because it has dictated the entire political landscape for more than a decade.

I got called out on the 9/11 debate by one member who I respect for his posts on the HFLC diet which I agree with. We disagree on the matter of 9/11 however, and it seems at the moment that the debate has transcended into a mud slinging contest.

Let me define first this discussion.

Essentially, there are two sides to the debate.

One side asserts absolutely that the US governments account is 100% correct, no further investigation is needed, the US governments account completely satisfies all anomalies and there is no need to ask any more questions. 19 hijackers fooled a multi billion dollar industry four times in one day, and they achieved their aims of hurting America because they 'hate freedom' and 'got lucky' (The opposing side of the discussion)

The other side states that there are several holes in the story put forward by the government, that absent from sufficient investigation will remain a large question mark over the official account and ultimately when looked at from a critical view point will be a black eye for the US government. (my perspective in this discussion)

The main points of contention are:

- Funding for the attacks, who, what, where, when, how... Yet not answered
- 60% of family members questions are not answered by the commission. (See family members steering committee)
- Collapses of buildings in NYC (see ae911truth free online docus)
- The fact that hijackers could succeed at all.. when so much money has been spent on 'defence' for decades.
- Five Dancing Israelis

The rest is an aside, and irrelevant to the discussion. Either you a) think the US governments account is 100% correct and are happy with it, or b) Think there are too many flaws in the current perspective of the investigation and therefore a new fully funded investigation should be carried out to fully follow the money and find those directly responsible.

Follow the money

"When force is the standard, the murderer wins over the pickpocket, and then that society vanishes in a spread of ruins and slaughter. Do you wish to know whether that day is coming?

"Watch Money. Money is a barometer of a society's virtue.

"When you see that trading is done, not by consent, but by compulsion - when you see that in order to produce, you need permission from men who produce nothing - when you see that money is flowing to those who deal, not in goods, but in favors - when you see men get richer by graft and pull than by work, and your laws don't protect you against them, but protect them against you - when you see corruption being rewarded and honesty becoming a self-sacrifice - then you may know that your society is doomed.

"Money is so noble a medium that it does not compete with guns and it does not make terms with brutality. It will not permit a country to survive as half-property, half-loot. Whenever destroyers appear among men, they start by destroying money, for money is men's protection, and the base of a moral existence."

Ayn Rand, Atlas Shrugged

That's it.

"Anyone who trades Liberty for Security deserves neither" - Benjamin Franklin

I think in general as a society we need to question the action of the government. On the issue of 9/11 I definitely don't think the U.S. government's account was absolutely 100% correct, it seldom is. I also don't really think it was a gigantic conspiracy either. The only problem is that it would take an incredibly well orchestrated plan to make this happen if someone in the government actually did know about it/plan it so there seems to be little middle ground.
