What I learned so far in Yin and Yang by Inavacuum
- Things to think about from Yin and Yang by inavacuum
- There is room for creative play at all stakes
- Focus on playing solid, but look for spots to take advantage
- when villain does something unexpected, take time to think about his range
- let villains level themselves
- think about how villains bet sizing polarizes their range (or depolarizes)
- utilize your reads BEFORE you act. Think about how to exploit villains tendencies THEN act.
- think about who you want to play the hands against. play more vs fish if you can. When facing regs think about how they think before you act.
- utilize the info you have on a player THEN formulate a plan.
- bet a non-polarizing amount on your bluffs IP
- pot odds on river IS USUALLY JUST AN EXCUSE TO MAKE BAD CALLS
- Make reads as specific to your opponent as possible
- Recognize the level of thinking your opponent is on, then go ONE level above
- What are you repping? Do you want to make your range wide or narrow? Dry boards, you rep narrow range by raising, wet boards you rep a wider range by raising.
- pay attention at the table to hands you are not involved in, take notes
- BEFORE action takes place, think of a plan for the hand. Remember the plan can change depending upon what happens and what information the villains give you
- understand WHY you are doing something before you do it
- Plan your hands. Make a choice before you have to choose..
- Make plays which will win you the most money long term and that balance your bluffs and value hands effectively
- be aware of villain turn bet sizing, are they telling a consistant story on the river
- encourage fish to get in the hand KAP
- take notes on villains river tendencies
- play in position and make decisions hard for your opponents
- get good at observing
- listen to what villain is telling you, devise a plan, then execute it
- avoid making broad assumptions on villains based on very limited information (ie. assuming a guy is a reg just because he happens to be deep when you say down and opens 4x UTG)
