Newcomer to the HU fields
Hi guys. Im 19-year-old dude from Helsinki, Finland. Im currently “doing my time†in the army, which in Finland is mandatory. I serve only 6 months though, which is somewhat a goodlifebeat. And i’ve done >2months already, so im outta there by 7/9.
About poker then, I’ve played poker for 4 ish years now. Started from shorthanded NLHE, back then I had no idea what I was doing. Moved to fixed holdem tables (9max), trying to learn the game. First a breakeven player, then a winning player. Moved from .25/.50 up to 5/10, but 3/6 was the game I made the most money in. To crush those stakes in full fixed games, one has to read hands/ranges very well. And I think I did.
For some reason I lost my appetite towards fixed games. I wasnt able to play even BE in 6max games and HU seemed so crazy and idiotic. I just quit poker.
Gained interest again last spring, when couple of my friends started to make ridiculous summs of money crushing online games. Especially one, whom I played the same fixed games for months, who then had switched to NLHE HU. I started to learn the game, made a deposit for 500 bucks playing NL50 HU on full tilt. I watched couple of sessions my friend played and basically tried to copy his play. Then I had no moves, no leveling of course.. nothing tricky. Just simple ABC TAG (if u can call it that in HU..) game. And I was a winning player from the start. Played couple months winning like 5k then. Needed the money, withdrawed it and quit for a time.
Started the same games at the same lever in December. Deposited 1500d to FTP and started grinding. It took me some time to get the hang of the game again, but I think I did. I played 5-8 hour days in December and 1-10th of January. Then I started to serve. While serving, I can only play on weekends. But I think I’ve done well. I’ve moved up from NL50 to NL200 in these last few months, keeping 100 bin bankroll (60-80 bins on new level before shots). I think I’m crushing NL200 as well and I hope I can get in a lot of time of play so I can move up stakes. Im sure NL400 will be the hardest move-up. At least that’s what I’ve heard.
Joined the site to learn to play against tougher opponents on higher stakes when I get there.
All comments are welcome, C U at my tables! ;)
